Another well-written story that brings out the sappiness in me. I'm starry-eyed...

A nice story. Very poignant and touching. I'm not sure if tears, "… dripped from his nose," is endearing or not. There are many stories like this of lovers being united in death.
Secrets Never Die (Short Story) - 7/9/2015 12:34:24 PM
Funny! There's no such thing as secrets, and you've let the cat out of the bag cleverly.
Secrets Never Die (Short Story) - 7/9/2015 6:36:48 AM
Short but sweet. A great little story about how the expression, "I'll take that to my grave," isn't always true. If I had to guess, I would say that women tend to harbor more secrets than men, primarily for self-preservation.
You made me chuckle, and that's worth a lot.

It seems I have one of those days every day!
Love and blessings,

It's hard to beat the lyrics to "It was just one of those things."
I'll bet the residuals are great too. You're close.

I could see this being a comic routine. George Carlin comes to mind. Very well done. I seem to remember having "one of those days" many days.

Heh.Heh Yes indeed, "one of those days" certainly sound very familiar to me. It is just the rut we find ourselves in when we don't seek out other places to visit, other people to start conversations with, other things to see and be seen.
Puppy Love (Poetry) - 7/7/2015 8:46:57 AM
"while swallowing my peas." Is so romantic! ;-)
But puppy love sure is grand. On rare occasions, it lasts a lifetime.

What a lovely poem of childhood. I can't believe others are not commenting. Well-written, and delightful.
Empty Nest (Poetry) - 5/18/2012 12:01:29 PM
I love the simplicity of your poem. However, it has a sad impression of the past. When I look at momentos from the past, I think only joy.

Are you trying to make this old mom cry? "Pass nimbly by" certainly expresses the speed of children growing before our eyes until they are suddenly gone. Skillful writing that tells a too-real story of life.
The picture is the perfect touch!

somewhere in our past, we all can remember the comfort a flashlight brought. thanks for sharing.

Your poem brings back fond memories of the nights we went out hunting nightcrawlers with their yucky slime on the wet grass. Dr. Brandt paid us very little for our cans full of them.
