Congradulations and peace be with you William

Confirmation Sunday (Poetry) - 5/13/2013 11:11:10 AM
You've painted a vivid idyll here, Andy, which is often the genuine scene and scenario when such professions of faith and promise are made. I'm an Anabaptist - or Neobaptist - and Simon baptised me in the sea at Lee Abbey himself when no Anglican priest would/could perform the 'rite'. I walked into the sea in the persistantly stormy rain which had bucketed down all day, but came up out of the water in a complete flood of golden light. I shall never forget it - and Heather won't either! As Ed says, God bless her. xx

It seems most of us have to work to live, and eat. A very gloomy photograph. Your poem tells it how it is.

By the Water Mill (Poetry) - 2/20/2013 6:56:02 AM
Made me sad Andy yet it has some truth~! I lost energy reading this and my hope is a good tax return and that I don't slip on the ice here in the USA from the weather we are currently having. I hope I don't have to be taken by ambulance on a stretcher and end up in that wheelchair from your last line,I felt this poem, pull and tug at my stomach. I am thinking on the positive and hope your plethora of words speak more uplifting to our souls! You are an amazing writer to make a person feel the soul! Teresa

Realise it's all an illusion, a creation the matrix...It's Red pill time buddy...Arrange another 'poets on the doings' with Kate and I'll bring some with me. ;) Well penned Andy.

Give us this day our daily pay No time to dream upon the hay Or hear our children laugh and play So sadly true, for so many today.

By the Water Mill (Poetry) - 2/18/2013 9:58:22 PM
Very sad the truth about which you write *Andy* but praying the light will break through.. Lady Vivian

By the Water Mill (Poetry) - 2/18/2013 5:51:53 PM
Andy, you've captured the essence of what I personally have termed, 'the plastic people' of modern society - nothing matters but their personal desires - the human race appears to be void of the need and understanding for value programming for the greater whole, mankind - without the roses to smell, what is there? - you've done an outstanding job of poetically summarizing this scenario - I wish you love and peace my dear friend - Jon Michael

By the Water Mill (Poetry) - 2/18/2013 10:27:31 AM
This is stunning writing Andy! I'm gazing, listening to the trees until my last breath. I don't want to be normal, and I would rather be poor than join the rat-race. Blessings, Chris

By the Water Mill (Poetry) - 2/18/2013 5:26:14 AM
Thoreau wrote that, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.” The masses are on a treadmill of ritualistic behavior, mostly in search of money, but off in search of passing the free time they have, unable to smell the roses. Your poem rings very true for most. Poets and dreamers are exempt, of course. ;-) Ron

Very heavy and sad write...no hope....no life

By the Water Mill (Poetry) - 2/17/2013 6:12:57 PM
Large, effective expression of strife, phrased with a sort of beauty of word that makes this poem compelling to me. ~~ Diana

By the Water Mill (Poetry) - 2/17/2013 5:32:33 PM
This is one somber poem of what life is like in darkness with no hope. It's good news that some see past the walls of prison and truly experience freedom as id on angelic wings with the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Stolen Kiss (Poetry) - 1/22/2013 6:19:53 AM

Stolen Kiss (Poetry) - 1/21/2013 1:56:41 PM
Oh my goodness... one of your very best, Andy! Delightful flow and sprung rhythm to this (not as in Gerard Manley Hopkins, but it trips along like stepping stones!) and lovely internal and external rhymes. So delicate and light which depicts the bliss of that kiss wonderfully... and its lingering, perfumed aftertaste. BINGO! :)) xx

A Day in the Breaking (Poetry) - 1/16/2013 12:05:01 PM
I like how this poem activates the sense of sound and touch (open window and winnowing winds) and smell (of car engines) and taste! = (just the word "ripening," even though it is the sun, we are thinking of fruit. No wonder your readers are pleasured by this writing. So am I... ~~ Diana

The Owl and the Pussycat. (Poetry) - 12/3/2012 1:48:14 PM
Positively ROARED all the way through this, Andy; so very visual and can just see it as a knock-about Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show somehow.. or a Hundert Aker Bonnie and Clyde with the eye-masks on, like Lone Ranger and Tonto. Get an illustrator and think Bob Hoskins and Jennifer Saunders... !! :)) xx

This is my first comment on this site. I was drawn to your poem because I wrote an article for another site about my wife's uncle who was killed in WW1 just eighteen. Your poem was very well written and of course open ended (how else could it be)? I may post my article on here... Regarda---G

Soldier (Poetry) - 11/14/2012 2:31:14 PM
Dancing to the musical mortar in the barbed field, beneath the stars as if chasing leaves of flame falling from autumnal trees. such a vivid capture, Andy, and the sense this gives me is of the hallucinatory effect wrought either from near-death experience, pain... or, more happily, from the nearness, intimacy and loving care of that Angel. Reminds me of the scene from Atonement where Nurse Briony tells the dying Frenchman that she loves him as if she is his girlfriend. GUTTING that Oliver was only 17!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xx

Soldier (Poetry) - 11/13/2012 5:59:19 PM
Andy, our guardian angels, what man believes he faces life's adversities alone? Only a foolish one. This is an inspiring rendering Andy. You conveyed and important message to everyone with a fine work. I wish you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

ANDY...I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR GRIEF. THE LOST OF YOUR NIECE HAS CAUSED YOU SO MUCH PAIN AS YOUR WORK WELL EXPRESSES. IN TIMES LIKE THESE THERE ARE NO WORDS TO CONSOLE A HEART THAT HAS TAKEN SUCH A BLOW, BUT I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I AM PRAYING FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND I HOPE YOU WILL BE STRENGTHENED AND REMEMBER TO...PLEASE, LOOK 'UP', ANDY. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WILL GRIEVE...CERTAINLY BUT, ALTHOUGH IT IS HARD TO SEE NOW, WITH TIME YOU WILL ALSO HEAL. AND ONE DAY... THE JOY OF HAVING KNOWN HER...WILL OUTWEIGH THE SORROW OF LOSING HER. MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES AND SYMPATHY, WITH MUCH LOVE... JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

So very sad, and so very sorry for your loss.

Too Young to Die (Poetry) - 7/13/2012 1:53:34 AM
Andy, condolences always fall woefully inadequate in times of personal grief. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Amy's parents. The loss of a loved one is difficult to cope with and the loss of one so young and vital makes it even more difficult to fathom the why. May peace and love be with you and Amy's parents my friend. Jon Michael

I am sorry for your loss Andy, for we may not understand why such a beautiful little soul is snatched from us. Therefore, we must keep their love in our hearts and know they feel ours no matter what plain they are on. You both will be in my meditations sweetheart Love and Light Lily

There's a Poem (Poetry) - 7/12/2012 8:09:19 AM
Both pain and pleasure are paint daubs on the pallet, Andy, accompanying a score of other pigment hues. Newly reading your writings here in the Den, I see your brush is in all of them. ~~ Diana

Love in a Box (Poetry) - 7/12/2012 8:00:24 AM
This is quite a telling tale. I like what Janna Hill said: "build it & she will come" because your closing line, "And designed for me", is exactly the formula that sums up your literary sketch here of the locked black box becoming musical. For me this is way more beautiful than cute; it says a great deal to me. ~~ Diana

Where the Teddy Bears Go (Poetry) - 7/12/2012 7:53:36 AM
I acknowledge and appreciate this level of attention and involvement. You wrote this like a song in the key of C -- a positive note to be sure: "Did you try to help/Litle Bo Peep/Find those sheep" what an insightful wonder. Lovely human expression mixed with wit and charm. A very enjoyable read. ~~ DIana

Too Young to Die (Poetry) - 7/12/2012 4:07:17 AM
Andy, my sincere condolences to you and to all the family at this very difficult time of tragic loss; so hard to bear but please take some comfort in knowing that your friends are here for you. May Amy rest in peace. john

Too Young to Die (Poetry) - 7/12/2012 3:58:51 AM
Her life and success was meteoric and her newly-named star that you have found in heaven's skies says it all, Andy. She will not leave you comfortless and her work is a national and international legacy that will continue her mission and fame. It is completely beyond our current understanding as to how this could have happened and I'm in awe that you have been able to so quickly pen this heart response. Amy is and was many things, but to you she is always the bright-eyed and marvellous protege girl-child who will continue to enrich your life and mind forever. Walking alongside you as you tread this heavy, dark and necessary path of grief. Keep offering up the pain and light will miraculously come. Answers will be found and much come out of this long night of the family soul. Her star shines bright for and among you. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Beyond the Clouds now is your niece, with tears never to fully understand from Uncle Andrew, but to know that God called her home to be His Angel And yet the words will never be enough for your loss, Lady Vivian

Too Young to Die (Poetry) - 7/11/2012 3:38:34 PM
I am very sorry this has come to your family, Andy. This is a heart-tugging tribute to Amy. Again, I wish I could say something more meaningful than I'm sorry, but . . .

Too Young to Die (Poetry) - 7/11/2012 3:35:57 PM

Too Young to Die (Poetry) - 7/11/2012 3:27:07 PM
This ode to your niece contains bravery and poignancy carved from the suffering tree. These two lines alone say it all: "I have not stopped weeping since you closed/Your eyes and fell asleep with no goodbyes." Beautiful expression of your grief. Condolences are never enough. ~~ Diana

Andy and Kate, the hilarity throughout is a hoot and then I got to, "for many years, we were happy, yes, you bet, but unfortunately, we bloody well met" and I knew it was over the top -- I love the humor, it is a marvelous collab - I wish you both peace and love - Jon Michael

Fate: with Kate (Poetry) - 5/26/2012 11:59:50 AM
A rowdy romp through relationship misconception. And a hilarious laugh to boot. I think I put in the boot, but it may be lost in the trunk over here. ;-) Ron

Only "she" will ever open the box so well guarded! Love this one; and totally relating!

There's a Poem (Poetry) - 5/6/2012 4:44:06 PM
Your Brit wit is shining, Andy! I think you need a few toasted marshmallows, some graham crackers, and a bar of chocolate. I'm about to make S'mores and I'd like very much if you'd join me across the sea. You just need some emotional nourishment to get your muse going strong. Since I lost my best friend dad, my muse has gone silent too. Blessings, Christine
