Ivy Dreams (Book) - 12/29/2012 5:27:25 PM
Thank you Jill for "Ivy Dreams". I hope one day that it becomes a realility. Yes, it's about time that in the "Battle Of The Sex's" that women should be playing professional baseball. I thought back in 1990 that by now that a woman would be playing in the majors.

Coastal Whispers (Book) - 2/29/2004 7:13:34 AM
The author states that this book of poetry ‘has something for everyone’ and after reading it, I would agree. The poems in this book embrace a myriad of topics from faith in God, to nature, to friendship and love, to life’s tragedies, heartaches, and triumphs. I especially liked the poems reflecting what the author sees and feels near the ocean. I am happy to recommend Coastal Whispers to anyone who enjoys poetry written from one’s heart and soul.

The Thin Line Between North and South (Short Story) - 7/7/2008 4:57:42 PM
Jill, I can wholly sympathize with your initial confusion. I moved from St. Louis, Mo. to Nashville, Tn when I was seven. I had a hard time understanding my teacher so my grades went down. But I've lived in the south ever since and love it: the weather, the friendly grace with which (many) people treat others, and the beauty of its beach and mountains. Thanks for giving me cause to think about it! Leann

A Mug of Dreams (Short Story) - 4/20/2008 2:53:00 PM
That is a beautiful story. I know how special a gift from your kids can be. My daughter bought me a coffee mug. It was plastic so after many cups of coffee it was impossible to clean out the black inside. I used it anyway. They came to the rescue with a new coffee mug although I had never said anything to them. This one is ceramic. I still have the old one. I will keep it. I use the new one. The newest gift from my daughters. Keep writing. God Bless, Lew

Lemonade from Lemons – Turning Negative Situations into Positive Outcomes (Article) - 3/26/2008 9:39:39 AM
What a wonderful, courageous and compassionate act! Many people may feel like helping..but many are too scared of the reception they may receive. Two peoples lives transformed on this rainy day in March...The lesson also is 'things aren't always what they appear'..This is such an uplifting piece... Love and Blessings, Diana.

Resurrecting Love at Easter: Is It a Good Idea? (Article) - 3/21/2008 11:02:44 AM
I personally think that to reconcile with some one after a long period without being able to think of it as meeting someone all new for the first time is doomed to failure. Time and life experiences do change people, sometimes for the better but just as often for the worst. Fee

Relationship Obituaries: A New Way to Move Forward? (Article) - 3/1/2008 6:39:22 AM
There has actually been a wall online for as many years as I've been out here so I don't know when it started but it was put up for abuse survivors to write/send letters meant for their abusers. Though the abusers will most likely never see them, the healing for the others who come to read and then write their own is amazing. A lot of healing in just seeing that others felt the same way and that voicing those feelings didn't send bolts of lighting down to kill them in their place as many who were abused where told that horror would be bestowed on them and their family. So I have no doubt that it would work in any other area. Just because we feel something doesn't mean that those first feelings are what we carry the rest of our lives, they are only the beginnings of the defensive part of us that helps us through the first hurts. Lady J

Relationship Obituaries: A New Way to Move Forward? (Article) - 2/29/2008 9:07:25 PM
Jill, When my mother died (nearly 18 years ago), I was angry: bitter because she was too young (I thought) to die (59 years old). Didn't cry for six months. Was watching an Oprah Winfrey program, the guest speaker said to write a letter to your dead loved one - I'm like, "WHAT???? They're never going to read it." The woman (can't remember her name) said that you could say anything - ANYTHING - expressing sadness, anger, happy memories, whatever - thought about it - started a letter and it wound up being 12 pages in length - I cried for three days straight - sometimes writing is the way to release your emotions, to let go - to heal. I know my poetry has been a lifesaver - keep writing, okay? Excellent, thought provoking write - (((HUGS))), love and prayer, Karla.

Relationship Obituaries: A New Way to Move Forward? (Article) - 2/29/2008 4:12:35 PM
Yes Jill, I have to agree about writiing being one of the most powerful tools in self healing the pain of heartaches and breakups. We do not need to be bitter and angry but we can express our pain and sadness and that goes a long way to help the healing process so we can move forward in our lives again. hugs Fee

Lemonade from Lemons – Turning Negative Situations into Positive Outcomes (Article) - 1/2/2008 9:04:06 PM
What a story!!! Such stories should be repeated in this world of individualism and self-centredness. You are correct, there is meaning and reason for anything that happens on or to us. We just need to figure out the meaning to that event or experience. Once more, thanks for sharing yourself and energies in touching the life of a lonely, abandoned lady. God bless.

Why Do We Want to be Famous? (Article) - 6/25/2007 4:25:30 PM
Interesting insight. Most people long for more excitement in their otherwise boring existance of deadly routine. They see celebs as living better. Many people feel that more money will make them happier. They see celebs as having more money and getting it without working hard. I am an existentialist. The only way that I will exist in the minds of those who follow is to be famous. If the words to just one of my poems is remembered like, "[A]nd I took the one less traveled by", a thousand years from now, then I will be famous. That's why I want to be famous. Ron

What About the True American Idols? (Article) - 5/20/2007 11:49:13 AM
While I agree that unsung heroes should get the fame--and some do--the key is in the 'blind and obsessive' favored by the popularity contest that is American Idol. Ron

What About the True American Idols? (Article) - 5/20/2007 6:50:46 AM
The true 'idols' of the world are not singers! As you said, there are those who are true idols and get little recognition. I feel our country has lost some of its values -- our idols need more than they ever receive. Fantastic piece of writing, Jill. Kate

What About the True American Idols? (Article) - 5/19/2007 3:47:43 PM
Very well stated and much needed article about where things seem to be going wrong in this world. You are so right, people die every day to help. to protect and to serve...where is there national recognition anymore? Fee

Our Hearts Are Hurting for Boston (Poetry) - 4/16/2013 11:46:49 AM
Well said. As I stand back and look at the whole situation, I realized that anyone up to no good can easily kill a lot of people because we have the freedom to buy whatever means of destruction we want, build it, and place it where we want. Until we can get into the minds of people and correct frustration, loneliness, and despair, we will be unable to control those who can't control themselves. Background checks will help, but we must begin to deal with all the mental illness out there that plagues us, whether it be suicide or homicide, it comes much too often for anyone. Ron

Our Hearts Are Hurting for Boston (Poetry) - 4/16/2013 4:58:57 AM

Cowboy in Heaven (Poetry) - 8/23/2012 7:04:40 PM
Jill, although death can be a sad thing, you have made it pointly okay to be dead in this poem. If that makes any sense. I am sure those who loved Cowboy James were not comforted so easily, but I find the thought of this journey told in such a positive and rythmic way very heartening. This was a treat to read. Be well, Kathy

Good to see you back writing poetry, even if it is a somber send off of one of Texas's own. I've been going to too many funerals lately. One was an officemate and Reverad who became a bishop recently before he died–left quite a legacy. Ron

Written in the true American tradition. Although a eulogy, this made me smile and I'm sure Minister Turner had a rollicking good laugh of appreciation too. Great flow adds to the humor and spirit of this one.

My Precious Daughter - A Father's Wedding Tribute (Poetry) - 2/24/2011 9:22:24 AM
The hardest thing a parent does, it let go of her child to follow the dreams her child holds dear. This letter may be written in the hears of thousands, if not millions of fathers as they watch their "little girl" walk down the aisle, her arm in his one last time before the sweet kiss of her husband takes hold. This is very beautiful Jill and it is also a sweet, endearing tribute from fathers all over the world to their lovely daughters. Dang! Where are those tissues. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Breast cancer, or any other type of cancer is not a good thing. I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy. I know how to look for the lumps, and I have a mammogram once a year. I cannot run for the cure, but I can empathize and hope that a cure is found to wipe out all cancer for good. Your message has been delivered to the hearts that care, and mine is such a heart, but with my heart problems I cannot run or walk that far any more. Thank you for sharing. May the Lord Bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and walk by your side. With love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister Barbie.

Hi, Jill, I re-read your Poetic Home for Rent poem before this one. I had just sent my college granddaughter Allie some of my poems about poetry, including Poetic Home--Not for Rent, so I wanted to read your challenge poem again. This is so well-done. It's beautifully touching and inspiring. The perspective from the "angel" makes it come to life. Connie
