Thieving Ways (Short Story) - 4/6/2005 4:13:43 AM
Very interesting start. I like the idea. With a little more character developement and maybe an obstacle in the protagonist's way, you could have an even better story. Best wishes.

this is cute; i enjoyed it much! thanks for the sharing!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in tx., karen lynn. :D
hopefully your salamander friend will find his way back out to freedom again! i found a little lizard in our house once, and we got him back outside once we scooped him in a plastic container and put him back out on the front porch and let him go about his merry way! thank GOD it wasn't a spider or a snake; i would have absolutely DIED!!
Salamander Shuffle (Short Story) - 4/18/2004 2:56:32 PM

Accident Number Four (Short Story) - 4/2/2004 1:27:02 PM
good story, melissa! always enjoy reading your stories; but sorry you have had rotten luck with your cars! sounds almost as bad as me! (glad i don't drive now; living in texas, where people drive crazy anyway, i DON'T want to chance it! people here in texas know only two speeds: stop and see who can drive over the speed limit! LOL)
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in tx., karen lynn. :D
Accident Number Three (Short Story) - 3/17/2004 10:38:43 AM

wishing you nothing but accident-FREE days ahead for you and your poor car!
Accident Number Two (Short Story) - 3/16/2004 8:26:59 AM
sounds like you sure have your luck with driving! i have had several accidents myself (thank god, most not serious; the only one that was was when i hit a car going 35 mph--my fault--; had serious damage to my front end, and the other car got squashed, too. what made it worse was that the other guy just got his car remodeled a few days before; it was a firebird. ow!). i don't drive any more, especially now, living in texas (plus i can't afford a car. my car i have now is actually my crutch! i walk everywhere i need to go!~). (((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in tx., karen lynn. :( good write, melissa!

Goofy Words-Aprosexia (Poetry) - 8/22/2009 5:06:48 PM
Ah, a poet after my own heart, I try to add difficult words in my work to spur people to learn something new. My problem is that I forget what they mean myself, after a time.

Conversations with a Mouthy Calico (Poetry) - 12/1/2005 11:06:51 AM
This is simply precious. I had to put my best friend "PussCat" down a week ago after 16 wonderful years. All I had to do was look in his eyes and know what he was thinking...we had an amazing connection...we now have a new friend, little "Teddy" who is 15 weeks old, but I'm still very sad over losing PussCat...this piece reminded me so much of how darling they are as they talk to us. Thank you...Blessings, Michelle

Great poem!
Homophobia (Poetry) - 10/25/2005 7:46:29 AM

Homophobia (Poetry) - 10/11/2005 4:01:03 PM
Not childish. It's the norm. As an instinct.
In my life I've found with exception of the Yanks. Brits, and Aussies, ok NZ too. Most folk are not met or accepted into another country or culture except for lip service.
Worse thing that happened here was the anti racism board.
It is abused. Yet with children they care not for race colour or creed, they just see friends.
Oneday I hope all bounderies are broken. We share the worlds resoures. Helping our brother humans. The same God made us all.
Homophobia (Poetry) - 10/7/2005 2:32:53 PM

Damn Proud To Be American (Poetry) - 8/29/2005 12:54:08 PM
Wonderful poem!
To say that one is better or worse because of how they were born or the choices they make is discrimination. Plain and simple!
But you know my opinions and my soap box.
Love you,

nicely penned ...
Poverty (Poetry) - 3/10/2005 3:21:55 PM
soooo many of us can relate to this right so many that it is really sad, and as a child one sometimes can't comprehen, as a teen we began to realize the dynamick of red tape, and other ugly things, thats when we have got to decide what it is we can do to change things and make a difference, save the world, our families, and make good grades in school where they are feeding us lies......hmmmm
got so many stories.....this is a very painful write
full of truths, that need to be heard
"poverty doesn't care about race, religion or creed"
that's for sure
Poverty (Poetry) - 3/9/2005 12:17:39 PM
I can relate. After my Dad left we struggled with money problems, too, not eating, or surviving on pancakes for a week. All the while my Dad was living a life of luxury and telling my brother and I how he bought a new car and went on vacation (we had never been anywhere on vacation). My mother worked soooo hard to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, that in an odd way, I wouldn't trade my childhood for the world, because now I care about the things that matter in life, like family and love, and am not materialistic like my Dad. It also makes you learn how to survive, which rich people sometimes never learn. But there is no nobility in poverty, it is a struggle and like the song "Common People," by Pulp, certain people will never understand. And the welfare system has long been broken, punishing those who try to hold jobs by cutting their money. It's an ignorant system that keeps people on welfare rather than helping them to better their lives. This was a very thought-provoking write, and I really felt like someone understood my childhood when I read this. Thanks.
Soaring-War of the Roses (Poetry) - 2/19/2005 1:33:14 AM

Soaring-War of the Roses (Poetry) - 1/28/2005 11:38:12 AM
A very unusual poem but I understand where you are coming from.
Patience (Poetry) - 1/25/2005 9:03:40 PM
nice acrostic ... "patience is a virtue"
Patience (Poetry) - 1/25/2005 1:50:31 PM
Well if you keep at it you do learn after a while it takes patience to learn patience.
Patience (Poetry) - 1/25/2005 10:27:25 AM
those darn virtues are hard...i keep trying not to be such an eeyore all the time, but i just can't seem to change...
Patience (Poetry) - 1/25/2005 9:43:07 AM
patience is one thing i definitely lack, melissa; just ask my twin sister! LOL great write!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in tx, karen lynn. :D
Hostility (Poetry) - 1/22/2005 1:23:27 PM
It is just plain ignorance that should have disappeared long ago, Melissa. Unfortunately, it is still rampant although I believe that changes are happening little by little. Our government (Canada) is going to legalize same sex marriages. It's not much I suppose but it is a start. Love and peace to you. Regis
Hostility (Poetry) - 1/21/2005 3:45:26 PM
It's just human nature to fight change. That would make sense if homosexuality hadn't been around since biblical times and hadn't been accpted in many cultures historically and currently. But you know my views.
And you know I love you! Honest and beautiful!
Robin
Hostility (Poetry) - 1/21/2005 12:49:05 PM
Melissa,
I know what you mean. I have the type of allergies you talk about. Being gay doesn't make for a bad person and admitting it shows how honest you are. Always keep that chin up and don't let the hostilities of those around bother you. Nice write.
Hostility (Poetry) - 1/21/2005 10:52:50 AM
heartfelt and honest write, melissa; thank you for your courage in speaking this topic! i don't exactly agree with the gay lifestyle, but i have friends who ARE gay, so i can't condemn them and judge; i try to see them for the people they truly are! what they do is none of my business but their own, and i don't push what i believe on them; that is wrong!! i try to keep my opinions to myeslf; it's safer that way!
i applaud your honesty; thank you!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in tx., karen lynn. :D
Hostility (Poetry) - 1/21/2005 9:48:35 AM
and why is the thought of it catching so frightening to people? i will never understand this kind of bias and i never want to. your poem is heartfelt, Melissa
Hostility (Poetry) - 1/21/2005 8:56:00 AM
I think that they just are plain long scared that somehow it is catching. People have to be willing to accept people for who they are. My brother is gay and he is my brother in that does not change. I loved him when I was growing up and I love him now, his being gay has no bearing on what makes him a man. And neither does it affect who you are. Because you know who you are and that is a person that I would prefer to know.
Head Cold (Poetry) - 1/20/2005 6:06:34 PM
I'm sorry but it IS funny. Love you. I'm sorry.

Haunted Memories (Poetry) - 9/19/2004 11:37:08 PM

Life is like
a game of monopoly;
a game of life.
There will always be
new beginnings,
everytime we start afresh.

I just found out I am one of Katydid's victims to be; don't know whether to be honored or scared...as long as it doesn't involve PAIN, then I am okay! LOL

Hypoglycemia (Poetry) - 6/28/2004 9:45:52 PM
This sounds alot like my underactive thyroid. I knew it was off recently when I started feeling exhausted, tired and depressed. Great write.
Hypoglycemia (Poetry) - 6/27/2004 3:06:33 AM
I know! Eat almonds in between meals, never eat carbs alone, lose the sugar :) watch it with the fruit, one fruit a day, processed foods in pkts, ummmmmm and always start the day with a protein brekky with a sugarless fibre, such as bran and a little fruit with either an egg, or fatless cheese, ie tofu ...... I could write a book on this rotten thing.
Seriously, there a soooo many hidden traps, junk food being the worst. Write me if you like, and we can exchange tips.
Oh BTW I get the weepy's for no apparent reason too, its a pain.
Love Ch'erie
Hypoglycemia (Poetry) - 6/24/2004 9:54:36 PM
A true write. It's always hard to deal with the blows that life throws your way.
Hypoglycemia (Poetry) - 6/24/2004 4:58:51 PM
Very poignant! I share your frustration, but about a different health concern. It helped me to see Billy Crystal on TV the other day, looking older and explaining how his muscles are moving in his legs, out of control at times, as he settles into later middle-age.
Monster Cat’s at it Again (Poetry) - 6/8/2004 1:23:51 PM

Monster Cat (Poetry) - 5/22/2004 8:17:27 AM
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...i am so sorry of your loss, melissa! i know how it is; i have lost several of my own kitties this way, and it is always so heartbreaking because even though they are "only animals" few realize the impact a furry feline friend makes on a person until they become part of the family and then pass on. i hope monster cat is happy in heaven, and i am sure he will live on in your heart forever! my babies, friday, cajun, and ouizer, sure do! i miss them all, but i will always love them and will always remember the joy they brought me. compelling write!

The Phone Rings (Poetry) - 4/15/2004 11:00:28 PM
My heart cries even if I don't. I know how much he meant to you. And I feel it again in each casual conversation. Perhaps with the words we write we can begin to heal. Nothing will ease that pain, but I can try.

Daddy Comes Home Once More (Poetry) - 3/31/2004 2:36:09 AM
There are so many uncertains in life..and when you start speaking of one going off to war, they are compounded so many times over.
Dad and child in this write has a joyous reuniting..it's always touching to see things end on a good note..
But it's so painful when they don't...

Happy Healthy Day, Poet!

Doors (Poetry) - 3/30/2004 1:54:09 PM
Wonderful poem. And the fact that it was inspired by a review makes it that much more special to me. Inspiration comes from many sources inside and outside. When one takes full advantage of them the results are spectacular.
Doors (Poetry) - 3/30/2004 1:11:02 PM
"Doors"... - good meal for thoughts.
Keep posting and writing.

Doors (Poetry) - 3/30/2004 12:47:54 PM
Never hide Melissa! Step out from behind that door and greet life with enthusiasm and smile like everybody is watching!
It always brightens my day when I've given inspiration! At the least I know I've contributed something towards somebody's life! Thank you Melissa! Lisa
I sit and wait (Poetry) - 3/30/2004 8:19:35 AM
Melissa, I have found that I sit and wait for your reviews..not only are they plentiful but touching and honest.
Are reviews addictive? Possibly so.. but what I find so neat about them are the fact that it is a door that has been left ajar by the eyes of society...
Good write Melissa! Lisa
Gremlins (Poetry) - 3/28/2004 9:13:19 AM

Gremlins (Poetry) - 3/25/2004 7:12:23 PM
O dem kooky gremlins! Dey eat up more den we can feed dem! I'm partial to the first movie with Zach Galligan and Hoyt Axton, myself. Just can't get that kooky music outta my head.

Soldiers Life (Poetry) - 3/24/2004 2:40:07 AM
