Your writing is marvelously soothing and touching to ones soul. I read your poems "A Servant for God", "My Life and That is All", "She's A Little Bit" and "Don't Read This". God has blessed you with a remarkable spirit and the gift and talent of a blessed soul that is able to see clearly; this is evident in your writing. Thank you for sharing.

I have a copy of this book, and it's amazing. The photographs are incredibly beautiful and compliment the poetry so very well. Phil Allen is not only a poet's poet, but has a great eye for presentation. A must buy for every poetry lover! Michelle Mills, author of "Prisms in a Looking Glass"

Misted Mind (Poetry) - 9/10/2011 6:42:34 PM
Painfully bold and heartbreaking poem, TD. There is excellent cadance to this ofering that holds the attention of the reader to the last word. You are such a good writer, I wish that you had more time to delight us with your creative pen. I was thinking of you today as the parade was going down the street, drumming up excitement for the State Fair which opened last night. I live one block from the fairgrounds so for me it is two weeks of trying to keep people from parking in my yard and cleaning up trash that they leave behind. However, there is the early morning entertainment as I drive up Route 66 to work and see the Carnies staggering back to the fairgrounds after evenings of dubious activities. I love the Route every day...it is truly a slice of Americana. Take care, Sherry

Misted Mind (Poetry) - 6/27/2011 7:14:02 AM

Misted Mind (Poetry) - 6/19/2011 12:54:09 AM
A wake-up call. The soldier may not be coming home indeed. But what does this mean to a child? Only everything... Masterfully done!

Deeply touching and so perfectly penned, Phillip.

The Stalker (Poetry) - 6/10/2011 8:25:39 PM
This has touched me and showed me more truth than what so many others words have instilled in me. Though I may be "crazy" in some peoples minds i know exactly this same feeling and it is not a good one. You have captured the fear and of being worried of ppl thinking the person is "crazy" so eloquintly. This peice has touched my heart and makes me think. Great writing!!!

The Stalker (Poetry) - 6/9/2011 5:57:50 PM

Misted Mind (Poetry) - 6/8/2011 10:34:26 PM
Poetically faultless. The poem has a very powerful impact, even though it is gentle, once I got to the last lines instinctively I took a sharp intake of breath. Excellent work, Thunder.

Misted Mind (Poetry) - 6/7/2011 5:01:31 PM

A Teardrop Yet To Fall (Poetry) - 6/5/2011 6:03:15 AM
A very special poem, Phillip. You made me feel guilty for the times I have passed by. The repeated line is touching and effective, and superbly adapted in the final stanza. Great stuff.

Reflections (Poetry) - 5/29/2011 4:51:37 PM
Be still my heart...this is beautiful from the first word to the last, TD. I would pick a favorite line but it is impossible because like the spokes of a wheel, each one relies upon the other for wholeness and strength. I am saving this to my library, because I will certainly want to read it again and again. Take care, Sherry

Reflections (Poetry) - 5/28/2011 6:46:56 PM

Splendid, meditative and smooooth write, Thunder Duck!

Reflections (Poetry) - 5/28/2011 8:43:17 AM
I have so missed your soulful and romantically searching, penetrating verse, Ducky. This reminds me of the effect of aligned mirrors - depths going on and on forever - which, of course, in your lover's or soulmate's eyes, things do as communication therein is fathomless, endless. Nice to be bathed in your words again! Kate xx

Woes of the Heart (Poetry) - 5/17/2011 10:57:59 AM

Woes of the Heart (Poetry) - 5/11/2011 4:53:41 PM
A familiar list of woes at any age. Believe me, I can sure relate! An elegant twist at the end... I have seen the crest-fallen face of a child when he discovered that he didn't have enough money for an ice cream cone and the generosity of the ice cream man as he gives it to him anyway. Blessings, Christine

The Stalker (Poetry) - 4/19/2009 8:47:35 AM
True poetry speaks many messages to differing souls. You have accomplished this well in "The Stalker," Phillip. Time, or at least aging, stalks us all--yet those of us who have experienced the terror of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, see another sinister figure who hovers beyond the reach of the law in his duplicity. This poem speaks on many levels. Well done my friend. Linda

Fireside Thoughts (Poetry) - 4/19/2009 8:43:40 AM
"reflecting the life we’re given, churning ripples and calming coves" beautiful imagery, Phillip. You don't just tell us about a beautiful place, you take us there. Thanks for the journey. Linda

A Teardrop Yet To Fall (Poetry) - 4/11/2009 12:07:28 PM
It's a sad world still when we see so many suffer, left cold outside, but we have to remember that a little bit of caring does go a long way.

Fireside Thoughts (Poetry) - 4/11/2009 9:49:08 AM
I could hear every cricket, every cicada, every rustle of every leaf, and the trickle of a nearby stream, as well as taste the sips of your drink as you take it all in...this is one of your finest pieces Duck. And to think that once you doubted your abilities as a writer. You've become a writer within a class all by yourself. Beautiful stuff. Michelle

The Hunger within ME (Poetry) - 4/6/2009 12:27:45 AM
When I read poetry, I like to read words that make me feel....and this piece, written so well, did that. Sensitive, quietly powerful and beautiful.

The Hunger within ME (Poetry) - 4/5/2009 8:25:47 AM
Heart's longing for a love that once filled its every molecule...how sad it is and how empty it all feels. It seems that each of us are given the opportunity to know the true depth of love and many of us are left to feel the empty longings, once it leaves us. It is a personal growth that we all hoped we would never have to know. Wonderful, expressive pen, TD. I love/hate this. Take care, Sherry

The Stalker (Poetry) - 4/5/2009 8:19:19 AM
Scary, I have been there, I am sad to say. It is a violation that sits beneath your skin, escape is never an option. Police are not quick to help, reminding you and you have no recourse in public places, where stalkers are concerned. Until he/she makes their move, which might well be fatal, there is little that one can do in their own defense. You paint the picture too well, it stirs up old emotions in me...it is a trap. The only thing that one can do is move far, far away, leaving the comforts and familiar surroundings of their life, behind. A victim has no power so no matter the cost, it is best for them to go to a place where they can have control over their life again. Nice to read you again, TD. Take care, Sherry

A Teardrop Yet To Fall (Poetry) - 4/5/2009 3:34:19 AM
"Hope and faith, they are my sisters. Grace, she birthed us all." Beautiful words Phillip and touching sentiment. Thanks for sharing this compassionate poem with us. Linda

The Stalker (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 9:57:51 AM
Most Outstaning Phillip!! Welcome back!! Love Tinka

The Stalker (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 8:34:35 AM
Would that we all be blind and a person's soul and substance be of import. It's sad the lengths people go through to try and look young. Liked the analogy you used, Phillip. The "stalker" is powerless without vanity. Excellent!

Whispers Unheard (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 7:45:00 AM
Your words are like music...I was going to say they were like poetry of love...but then I realized that was kind of silly...hee, hee... So, instead I will say that this poem has great meaning to me because it so perfectly mirrors what I would say to the love of my life. That is what I love about poetry...it allows us to "say" what is so difficult to really say out loud... Cryssa :~)

The Hunger within ME (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 7:38:31 AM
The second stanza is my favorite, maybe because it reminded me of the feelings I expressed in my poem "Trying to be Whole"... Cryssa

A Teardrop Yet To Fall (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 7:35:18 AM
This brought tears to my eyes. Your writing makes me feel for the characters and feel the emotions they feel. Not many writers have that ability. Cryssa

The Stalker (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 7:32:53 AM
You built the fear up in me during the lines...and then left me smiling with that last line. Well done! Cryssa :~)

The Stalker (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 7:00:21 AM
Karla, and Jeanette the stalker is nothing more than ones fear of father time (The predator)catching up with them. Some grow older gracefully, yet others try to outrun father time only to find in the end he catches all.

The Stalker (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 6:28:15 AM
You had me going with this one Duck. Well done! Blessings, Michelle

The Stalker (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 5:52:51 AM
Excellent, Phillip. I, too, think the predator is fear ... well done! (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

The Stalker (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 5:01:41 AM
I don't know if I interpreted your poem correctly, but I perceived that the stalker is "fear" that we all have as we go through life. It is always with us, but it serves a good purpose because it challenges us to move past obstacles in our way. Your poem is an nteresting write.

The Stalker (Poetry) - 4/4/2009 4:22:21 AM

A Teardrop Yet To Fall (Poetry) - 4/2/2009 5:45:15 AM

Time is then the most despicable of robbers! :(( For what heart would not faint at such a humble and sincerely reverent unveiling? I have yet to meet a woman who would not be undone by even one line of this beneficent outpouring of heart and soul. You grace us well and we feed on the feast that even only the crumbs of time will allow. Thanks for stopping by, Ducky. Be well always. K xx

You embrace with your words, TD, which is a feat most only aspire to. Yes, it is impossible to find words that adequately express that which is more than life itself, to us, but what you do say, certainly makes your point. Beautiful, beautiful!! Life gets in the way of my writing and my ability to even write reviews most of the time, but I do come here and read whenever quiet moments come my way. Take care, Sherry

A Teardrop Yet To Fall (Poetry) - 2/16/2008 7:01:04 PM
Phillip I must say this poem touched my heart. Reminds me of a poem I wrote years back titled "The Unfortunate Man." In a second, you gave faith to a victim of the streets. It is your generosity that she shall never forget when others walk by without a glance. Though she may never see you again. She will never forget. Nor will God...

A Teardrop Yet To Fall (Poetry) - 12/31/2007 8:11:36 PM
It is so easy to turn away or to let fear keep us from taking a moment to exchange a bit of human kindness to those who suffer from aflictions we may not understand. We tend to judge others by our self and in doing so forget that "there, but for the grace of God, go I..." Your words do indeed express the true meaning of Christmas. Charity is a virtue that few of us take to the extent that we should as we continue to confuse our needs with our wants. A few days ago, as a friend of mine was telling me about the car stereo she was going to buy for her husband, as a Christmas gift, at a price of about $800.00. I thought to myself, UNICEF could innoculate an entire community of children for that amount of money and still have enough left over to offer protection and education to adults to teach them about stopping the spread of HIV. You certainly strike a cord with me in this offering, TD. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and deliver this potent message to all of us. Take care, Sherry

I know this very same lady and, in Savannah, her name was geraldine. They are all a part of my heart and though the names are different their love is needed everywhere. It's always our turn to make things a little better. When we pass them by doing nothing is the worst thing you could do for them, this world, our children and yourself! Love and blessings! Susan
