I really enjoyed reading this short story. So many are on paths and feel lost. It's encouraging to read and reveal of how this is only temporary and sometimes much needed to appreciate and find ones true journey. Great read!

I Am Dave's Sister (Short Story) - 2/15/2007 10:27:37 AM
This is a lovely tribute to your brother and your family, Carol. It is a shame families are so spread apart nowadays they barely know one another. May your memories bring you comfort.

I Am Dave's Sister (Short Story) - 2/15/2007 7:33:48 AM
I really enjoyed reading this, Carol, since I, too, grew up in Chicago, and we also resided with my grandparents. I also have an older sister, and she and I are quite different. I also spent a lot of my time in Wisconsin, fishing, and I've even been to Lodi. My deepest sympathies on the loss of your brother.

I loved the ending twist you incorporated into an old story, Carol! Totally unexpected and very creative. Sarah's sarcasm makes the story WORK! Well done.

The Red Convertible (Short Story) - 10/30/2006 1:20:44 PM
Authorsden seems to allow anyone to post most anything as a "story" and from what I have read over the years very few live up to being a real "story". This one did. An old theme you gave a wonderful twist. I truly hope you take your Red Convertible and do installment two, three and then turn it into a full blown book. You have humor in your bones Carole and a flare with words. The world needs more of you.

The Path (Short Story) - 8/21/2006 8:17:53 AM

The Medal of Honor (Short Story) - 7/8/2006 7:42:43 PM

Inventions and Other Creations (Short Story) - 7/8/2006 7:36:15 PM
The fast pace of todays society certainly has a profound effect on all of us. I'm not sure its all for the best, but we're here and onward we go.I do not think our ancestors could begin to fathom the inventions of today. They'd probally be overwhelmed. You're right tho, without daring and intellectual people with their inventions, where would we be. Your article was interesting and thought provoking.......M

This is a great poem Carol! I read it with a smile. Love the details and how it is so personal. Love the honesty and touches of humor. These are the kind of poems I could just read over and over. Glad I found your writings. from Zach~ a fellow human & poet

My Cooking History (Poetry) - 8/18/2008 2:28:56 PM
I loved this topic and must have my sixteen year old daughter read this poem. She doesn't cook since she is so busy with her studies. Yet, her mother cooks. On the other hand, daughter loves to eat.

My Cooking History (Poetry) - 6/18/2008 3:40:46 PM
Not much cooking for me since death of hubby Tom Aug 17 last year. I do cook in crock pot or microwave, but like cold foods in summer anyway. Eat out lots too. Used to make a whole 9 lb turkey for us both so we'd have leftovers, but those days are over. I don't like to cook for one either.

My Cooking History (Poetry) - 1/5/2008 3:02:29 PM
Wow, I love your poem

My Cooking History (Poetry) - 7/20/2005 12:46:11 PM
Welcome to Author's Den; you're among friends here. :) I am not a cook. Okay, I cook two things: chicken noodle soup from scratch (four hours' preperation) and kapushta (fried cabbage/onions combined with boiled egg noodles and Kielbasa). That's usually it. Most other times, I let someone else do the cooking (and the dishes). LOL A very well written debut--admitting you're not a cook is courageous! :) But if you're like me, you like to eat.........LOL (((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)

My Cooking History (Poetry) - 7/19/2005 7:55:48 PM
I like the AB, CD rhyme scheme in this poem. It reads smoothly and does not seem to have been force-rhymed. The topic of discussion in this poem is also very interesting. I think this poem is a job well-done. I cook, but don't cook very well, just make simple meals. I like to watch the cook shows on the TV, like the "Iron Chef" and the "Hell's Kitchen". I think when a woman cooks, it is normally that she doesn't cook for herself. A woman cooks to express love for her loved ones. I will not mind cooking a good meal if I have the chance to do so. Now, with everything goes on in the food channel, and the TV shows like "The Iron Chef" and the "Hell's Kitchen", it just makes cooking all the more interesting, it is almost like an art that one can learn to achieve its artistic value. Very interesting indeed! Sandie May Angel a.k.a. Sandie Angel :o)
