Your story of Leo sent shimmers through me. Enlightening, informative, and just what we need to hear in this day and time. You have touched me, for the better, as if you were talking directly to me. It's amazing, when you need to hear something, the universe gives it to you at the precise time you need it most.

Review: Notes Left Behind by Brooke Desserich (Article) - 11/1/2009 8:30:51 PM
What a great review, Reginald! I am going to order a copy! My heart goes out to the child's family. Doctors, nurses, friends, and others who tried to help. Writing the book had to be wrenching, but it was a story that needed to be told. There is nothing more inspiring than the way the human spirit transcends pain and suffering. Children, especially, teach us this. I wrote a book on behalf of a mother whose autistic son was such a severe self-injurer that it nearly wrecked the lives of everyone involved. Jeff, too, was wonderful. Sadly, he did not live to see 30. Scary and sad as the story is, everyone who reads it says it is inspirational. Hope, faith, strength, and loyalty shine!!! Thank you for posting this. Blessings, Phyllis

A powerful review for what sounds like an extraordinary book well worth reading. The points listed are themselves a little dynamo of inspiration and empowerment, and the idea to target funds for cancer research with the offer of a substantial incentive makes a tremendous amount of sense.
Much gratitude,

Reginald,
This is a moving piece, and it brings tremendous honor to both your parents.
Like you,in many ways,I grew up without having known my father. He died in August, and I was born two months later in October. My mother, like yours, laid an excellent foundation for me and the rest
of my siblings during her life time;she died in January of 2008.
I am sure many others, like myself, can relate to your stirring message.
Continued success

I really enjoy your work. It really does take two parents and the whole village to to raise children. We're all responsible for how
children grow up. Not everyone who has two parents grows with honir, dignity and pride. We adults have to set good examples. Thanks for
visiting me and your wonderful comments.

Reginald, bravo! "A Mother's Love" is an excellent story, and even if it is fictitious( I am not sayiny it is)its truth is very real and powerful.
I know what it means to have a mother intercede. Although my mom died last year, her love for me still compels me to do,to act courageously and confidently,as she did when ahe walked among us.

No! The odds are in HIS favor. Positive thinking is becoming a LOST art these days. We need to het our moral character back on track and stop all of this negatives news. All this negative thinking is killing us in America.

Three cheers for mothers like Helen.
If it were not for my mother, I would never have learned to read. The ‘so-called educational experts’ said (I was six or seven at the time) I was so retarded that I would never learn to read. My mother taught me at home with a coat hanger in one hand. I had dyslexia--something the ‘experts’ didn’t know about at that time.
An art teacher, Jim Ellison, at the high school where I taught for decades functioned with only one side of his brain. The other side was destroyed at bird by a virus of some kind. His mother was told that her son would never walk, talk or function. They told her he probably would never even be capable of rolling over or crawling. She refused to accept that and was relentless at teaching her son after all of the ‘experts’ had given up. Jim has a PhD along with a few other degrees and is considered one of the top 150 artists in the world. He can walk and talk-- no problems.
