Computer Networks Super Review (Book) - 9/25/2001 7:40:12 PM
A Clear Presentation of Networking. I really never understood TCP/IP until I read Randall Raus' book, Computer Networks. I didn't really "get" the Internet, especially the interface layer, before reading this book. I recommend it highly to anyone who would like a clear, theoretical explanation of networking and the Internet.

Computer Networks Super Review (Book) - 9/25/2001 7:35:24 PM
Computer Networks Super Review by Randall Raus is packed with solid information. It explains the highly technical concepts of computer networking in clear, easy to understand language, and covers hot technologies such as DSL and transmission over fiber-optic. Unlike many other texts on networking, it doesn't move to quickly or bore the reader with needless repetition. It is also well organized and has many useful diagrams and tables to help the reader grasp complex concepts. Microsoft Press could learn a few things from this author! A must for the serious student of networking! Victor Roszell, MCSE, BA English. Long Beach, CA, U.S.

The Monetary Policy of the USA (Article) - 10/23/2003 8:29:02 AM
From the writer: Sorry for all the apostrophes that came out as double quotes. Soon as Author's Den tell me what's wrong I'm going to repost the article. Also, I'm going to re-edit and rewrite, putting the historical references in perspective, adding one or two specific examples (the analogy with car's engine in itself is too vague), make the ending less abrupt, and clarify the references to the gold standard. I won't change more than a hundred words, but it will require a lot of thought and research, so please bear with me. On my web site this article looked great (check it out for yourself - click on Economist), and it was aimed for a different readership (in that context it was appropriate).

The Best Man for the Job (Article) - 11/8/2002 7:22:54 AM
Very well written. I'm a working guy and a registered Democrat whose founded it harder and harder to vote for Democrats. The Democratic agenda; more government growth (higher taxes), affirmative action (race.gender based preferences), and less personal choice/freedom (smoking bans, gun control and political correctness) are all against the grain of what most working people I know want. /// The 2000 election was a disaster for the Dems because Gore has none of Clinton's charisma. In the debates he was pedantic and wooden...acting like he was talking to a class of elementary schoolkids. // Later, when I found out that (A) Al Gore did worse in school than GW Bush and (B) that Bush finished his Harvard MBA while Gore was failing out of both Law School and Divinity School, I found his pedantic nature a detestable sham. /// In 2002 the Dems did much the same thing - they set themselves up as the opposition Party and thought that an anti-Bush message would win the day. Sadly for them, most Americans are genuinely worried about homeland security, so they appeared more obstructionist than opposition (the GOP was vulnerable on immigration which they've done little to curb and even some things that've encouraged illegal immigration from Mexico), they opposed the Bush tax cut, while most people favor the tax cut and understand that lower rates = more revenues (again the GOP was vulnerable on the issue of larger payroll tax cuts for lower income Americans). Worse yet, the debacle of Paul Wellstone's funeral and the championing of "proud liberal" Walter Mondale made the Dems look like throwbacks to the Carter era of huge, intrusive government, sky high taxes and the triumverate of high interest rates, unemployment and inflation. /// Now Mary Pelosi (a San Francisco Democrat) is poised to take over the Minority Whip position and move the Party further Left! What's wrong with this picture? This is a Party stuck in a sixties-mode that continues to alienate most of the people who once formed its base. I hate to say it, but they're marginalizing the Democratic Party and in all honesty, they deserve what they'll get if they fail to heed the real message from the election of 2002 and shift even further Left. /// Fine writing.

The American Perspective of: What Is Culture? (Article) - 10/16/2002 5:00:52 AM
Reading your article I realized yes, there is culture we can name as developed by Americans. Laden's and Saddam's are up destroying it now, but aren't we too are vandalls enough to attack other cultures? Anyway, you might want to mail this article to Bush. Nice writing.

The American Perspective of: What Is Culture? (Article) - 10/9/2002 9:16:12 AM
Well done. This was thorough and entertaining. You might want to consider changing it to "myth" and "fact" rather than "question" and "answer", though. Also, in my part of the South, the only place you'll see a cowboy hat is on the head of a visiting Yankee or at a Rodeo. Everbody else is wearing Atlanta Braves caps. ;-)

The American Perspective of: What Is Culture? (Article) - 10/9/2002 6:29:46 AM
Brilliant peice of writing. The analytical and probing mind of author reflects in this thought provoking article. There are many civilizations on this earth that claims America has no culture or some times I have seen American themselves baffled over their own roots and culture trying to look at east for spiritual guidance. (This may be the reason why Hare Ram hare Krishna or Krishna conscience movements are rooting in USA.) Fundamentally many does not understand the defination of culture and that creates lot many problems. Having ancient history is no way the culture. Culture consists of a vibrant society that is filled with aspiration and innovatism to meet the demands of time they live in. Though alien to American culture I never thought America have no culture. But Americans need to discuss this issue too seriously and from positive perspective of this author.

The River of the Sun (Poetry) - 6/14/2008 1:55:07 PM
This is a lovely expression of love lost, of hindsight gained, of wistful remembrance, of the price you feel you paid and of your regrets...the words flow well and even the graphic is stunning... I only wonder whether all this time and hindsight aren't a bit coloured by that sun...we tend to see golden or rose hues where our minds and hearts engage in 'wishful thinking'...in memories. Well done, Randall! Gina

The River of the Sun (Poetry) - 5/16/2008 11:34:43 AM
Letting go wasn't easy at the time and it is not easy to win back a lost love. Trust enters into it and some don't take that chance again on the same person. Remembrance are there for you to pull up at times just like two names carved on a tree of your school days love.

The River of the Sun (Poetry) - 6/4/2007 2:21:06 PM
