Yes, we have to always strive for peace and hope that one day we will begin again for the last time. I see the images of the starting over again and again in "begun in the dark-bound ice of midwinters turning", and "the tatters of broken darkness. When the sparking flame ... returns." I see these lines offering hope that maybe peace will arrive if "we" do not give up striving for it.

Your poem was very thought grabbing to me. I sensed a creepily delicious flow in your poem and as a writer in a style of lovecraft, I enjoyed this very much. Good wording, good work.

"...ideals that quickly rust in rain
like shattered swords."....
Huh.. what a metaphor! Peace has woven our civilizations. If peace is dead, civilization is just a shroud.
A great work Kath

"Elusive thread called peace." Excellent, well written, very much to the point that love, happiness and peace are found within us: never without. Visit me sometime, Kathleen.
