Last Breath (Short Story) - 7/29/2011 1:51:13 PM
Beautiful and Poetic, Joyce as always. :) Thank you for reading this, jch. 'Things Fall Apart.' I might have read something about that in Poets and Writers Magazine. I am so addicted to that magazine, but it's a great resource for writers and poets. Thank you so much for your review, Mohammed. :)

Last Breath (Short Story) - 7/27/2011 2:57:13 PM
IT'S ONLY A FACADE...DARKNESS IS. DON'T BE FOOLED...OUR FUTURE IS SO MUCH BRIGHTER THAN OUR PAST, 'CAUSE OUR HERO, WHO EVER WAS AND WILL BE, USES THE DARKNESS AS THE EBONY BACKDROP WHICH REGALLY DISPLAYS THE GLOWING LIGHT THAT IS HOPE'S ETERNAL CANDLE. SO THEN...THE LAST BREATH IS OUR FIRST BREATH...FOREVER. WELL DONE AND ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Ringing In A Jewish New Year (Article) - 10/16/2011 7:44:41 PM
All the makings of a good TV series with the emotions and interactions. Imperfect, but very real. Holidays are a real mix. Can't wait to hear your Thanksgiving.

Being Your Friend (Article) - 9/29/2011 2:01:25 PM
Quite a heartfelt cry of the soul. Though some of us have many friendly acquaintances, most of us only have a few real friends. I think of this line of Doc Holliday about Wyat Earp in Tombstone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRVhtVCfzo8&feature=related

Being Your Friend (Article) - 9/27/2011 1:43:31 PM
I guess we do wind up alone at some point in time, but instead of disappearing away, we could do what we do, which is to write everything and anything. Great word, btw. Shan't. I try not to think of death. God knows, I've had a few brushes there, but now I focus on life. I think that when I do leave here, I want to leave something behind, tell people that I was here. Try not to give in to your fear. Just make the best of your time and write. Write everything and anything, and I'll say a prayer for you. Take care. Melissa

Being Your Friend (Article) - 9/27/2011 1:04:48 PM
I'm alone. Basically. I worked diligently over these some fifty-odd years to get to this point in my life. I didn't set out to find myself alone in my old age, but here I am. I won't go into my childhood, although that plays a big part in who, and why I am. I have been disowned by my family for simply telling the truth in my memoir. I shan't(love that word) go into that either. Well! What am I going to go into? Nothing except to tell you that most of us are alone because we choose to be through our actions, or non-actions, or misfortune. Being alone isn't too bad. My wife (third wife) passed away two years ago last February 9. I was alone even before she left me for wherever she went. So, I fill my time writing about my aloneness -- to a point -- through my poetry. And not so much that anymore, I mean how much can you write about it? I write my novels. I am old enough to die, and I think about that from time to time. My great fear is having some kind of seizure or heart attack or stroke and lay here for however many days it will take them to find me, paralyzed and unable to move or call out.My little mutt, Zoe, might raise the alarm after a few days. Don't know.

Life Gets Better (Article) - 7/14/2011 3:46:07 PM
We do survive the worst of times, but it forever changes us. But with time, we age with wisdom, looking back on all those regrets, all those hardships, wishing to go back and not do it all over again. But all we can do is move forward and write the stories in our heart. Thank you, both for reading this. :)

Life Gets Better (Article) - 7/9/2011 2:46:15 PM
Growing up is the pips, isn't it. My childhood wasn't very good, and in a lot of respects, it was very bad. We survive them, most of us, without becoming raving lunatics. I enjoyed reading this, because I always admire someone writing from the truth.

Life Gets Better (Article) - 7/9/2011 2:38:23 PM
ISN'T IT AMAZING HOW, AS WE GROW OLDER AND WISER, OUR 'COPING SKILLS' IMPROVE IMMEASURABLY AND...LIFE GETS BETTER. THANKS FOR SHARING, MELISSA. THIS WAS A GOOD READ AND ENJOYED. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Remembering Lost Childhood (Article) - 7/9/2011 12:57:44 PM
My past will always be the ghost riding in the backseat of my mind, but instead of silence, I've decided to write the stories that maybe should not be known. Thank you, Regis. I think we all travel the same road, living different experiences. Thank you, Joyce! There was a time, where I wouldn't dare disturb my past, but my past disturbs me. And I'm tired of remembering what I cannot change, so why not write about it? And I thank God for giving me the strength to survive because without faith, I know that I would not be here today. I hate hospitals, Jerry, but if you need to, you should go. This way, you get better and move on to something good. Despite my past relationship with my parents, I still loved them, and I love them still, despite their flaws. I know your children love you, and that book would give them the chance to know their father, your life. Writing this does help, but my past will always haunt me. I am who I am today because of all I had lived through, and I would like to know why with some memories. But I now look toward the future in hopes of finding and living a better life. Take care. :)

Remembering Lost Childhood (Article) - 7/7/2011 7:06:18 PM
This is so deeply moving and meaningful; it awakens such strong emotions in me as I read. I think many will relate in some manner at least to what you have shared through this so well-written piece, Melissa. Thank you. Love and best wishes to you, Regis

Remembering Lost Childhood (Article) - 7/7/2011 6:10:15 PM
THIS IS A GREAT SHARING AND YOU'RE BRAVE...I WOULDN'T TOUCH MINE WITH A TEN FOOT POLE...ANYMORE. YES...I USED TO BUT I JUST WON'T GO THERE AGAIN. I'M VERY GLAD THAT GOD BROUGHT ME THROUGH IT ALL AND EVERYTHING I EXPERIENCED SERVED AS A 'CHISLER', MOLDING ME INTO THE PERSON I AM TODAY. I AM A CHILD OF THE KING OF KINGS! AND I THANK GOD FOR HIS LOVE. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Remembering Lost Childhood (Article) - 7/7/2011 2:16:47 PM
Wasn't going to read this because I have been in pretty bad shape since yesterday. Back problems and I'm fighting going to ER. I wasn't going to read it, but I'm grateful that I did. Wonderful prose. Exquisite at times. Childhoods. Mine wasn't good. Forty some odd years later I wrote a book for my children who needed some answers as to why I left them twisting in the wind. I called the book, "Misdemeanors & Felonies: A Memoir." Your style is so much more mellow than mine. I crash-boom-bah all over the place. We might say the same things, but we take different roads to get there. I hope writing such as this helps you. I can feel that the past still bothers you, as mine does mine. Mine always will because on one question that was never answered

Beyond The Spielberg Dream (Article) - 7/7/2011 1:42:45 PM
Thank you, Regis for you are inspiration. :) Jerry, I'm so sorry to hear about your pain. I've been dealing with some heart issues of my own, but nothing too serious. I hope you feel better, and thank you. It's people like you that keep me writing away. :) Melissa

Beyond The Spielberg Dream (Article) - 7/6/2011 6:17:56 PM
What lies in humanity is the heart of strength, love, and with love comes faith. No matter the darkest hour that we will face, somehow, someway, you’ll make it through, but instead of just trying to survive, you fight. You fight for a world gone. You fight to take back a life ripped away. You fight for love. You fight for family. You fight for humanity. I find your words powerfully inspiring and moving, Melissa. Thank you. Love and best wishes, Regis

Beyond The Spielberg Dream (Article) - 7/6/2011 12:37:20 PM
I read and enjoyed this. I won't be commenting much because I'm in a great deal of pain today, but I agree. Fight the fight. Don't run. Take a stand. All those clichés. I'm not much of a Spielberg fan actually, but I'm a fan of yours, that's why I'm here, I track you.

Memorable Heroes (Article) - 5/10/2011 7:12:33 PM

Against Future (Article) - 5/5/2011 6:20:22 PM
Thank you both for reading this article. Teaching is a passion, and whether they are devoted or not, they still change the lives of their students. And their students need them, and so do we.

Against Future (Article) - 4/25/2011 7:19:35 PM
Melissa, awesome article..who of us hasn't had the "wicked witch of the west teacher ?"..teaching is a passion for some, others just a job. In todays' society I know that I could not be a teacher, too many stigmas attached, which is NOT the case in other countries..to be a teacher is an honour. If we keep going in this direction..I pity the children..what future??? weedbychoice..kjforce

Against Future (Article) - 4/22/2011 7:09:38 PM
So relevant with bullying in the news and talk of cuts. Thank God for good teachers! Too few of them ... and the ones that pay are the children. I hope we find an answer and find our way.

I'm Talking to You (Poetry) - 3/17/2013 2:38:27 PM
Thank you all for your wonderful comments. This poem is actually based off two incidents. One was in a retail store, and the other was in a restaurant. Both women said the same exact thing, "Hey, I'm talking to you." It must be contagious.

I'm Talking to You (Poetry) - 3/17/2013 7:26:31 AM
Some people don't know how to stop talking, repeating what they're saying over and over as if trying to get it across. The result is usually the opposite, they are no longer heard. I hope this didn't happen to you. Ron

Hallway of a Broken World (Poetry) - 12/25/2012 10:39:23 AM
It begins it. I have been here before, as I could tell. For finding: that myself I have reborn But not seen, is forever to persist To gather around the seasons of space with the everlastingness of event With the layered energy as it is made of things. Into the logical fiber of the tribute: a thought arises And stays on course, slowly progressing, not done. By fear: the fear that’s been since forever, In the same space the inseparable normal good Being passed through mankind Came accessible to me: I fade into remoteness

Hallway of a Broken World (Poetry) - 11/12/2012 6:25:03 PM

Hallway of a Broken World (Poetry) - 11/12/2012 8:13:49 AM
Thank you, everyone. In the past, my family and I encountered one or two Long Island hurricanes but nothing of this magnitude, and this was a nightmare that we are fortunate to recover from.

Hallway of a Broken World (Poetry) - 11/11/2012 1:31:00 PM
First off: Blimey, I just love your name! It's classical and rich. This poem could be enigmatic, however, after the hurricane you folk had, I can only relate it to a compassionate poem to such an even. A hurricane that is twice the size of our kingdom. Class writing!

Hallway of a Broken World (Poetry) - 11/11/2012 1:05:34 PM
a too ponderous piece in the light of recent events budd

Writing Life (Poetry) - 10/12/2012 11:07:38 AM
May I make a suggestion, Melissa? Think about the happiest moment in your life and write about it. How did you feel? Where were you? Did it change your life? In what ways? Can you go back and recapture those feelings? Tell us about it with that wonderful imagery that know how to put into words. Try it.

On a Broken Bridge (Poetry) - 10/12/2012 10:41:24 AM
I know your feeling. I spent 8 years overseas and often experienced a great longing to come home knowing I could not. Many years later I have the repeating dream of trying desperately to catch the plane home that I can never quite reach in time. An endless set of obstacles get in my way, again and again.

On a Broken Bridge (Poetry) - 10/12/2012 7:50:25 AM
There's a lot of pain here that is unresolved. By writing what you're writing you have it within yourself to overcome the obstacles and break free. Ron

Writing Life (Poetry) - 2/2/2012 5:13:02 AM
Melissa, Memories, good or bad is what keeps us alive and remember we've lived. This poem is beautifully crafted, and I think we all think this. But one can one do but forge ahead. Mary

Writing Life (Poetry) - 2/1/2012 10:18:27 AM
Memories, good or bad, are always better when viewed from the future. We can't make things come out the way we want, only the way they are. It is always better to move ahead in life and not dwell too much on the past, especially if it was bad. Ron

Seven Grains (Poetry) - 11/18/2011 4:56:50 PM
Oh so true. Finding ones path is nye impossible with so many crossroads . Fear and doubt are such a blight to ones sight. Yet listen in quietude and all may become clear. Even if it is on your own well trodden path, or a new road where few ever go to grow taking the easy path, the mindless path that leads to nowhere. Life has beauty; beauty has you, may hap you have no distance to travel.

Whenever I Hear A Train (Poetry) - 6/23/2011 4:47:36 PM
I quite understand the allure of the train whistle. Change is difficult. Staying in an environment that is not happy may be easy, but if you are not happy, catch that train, let it take you wherever you want it to.

If I Talk Religion (Poetry) - 5/14/2011 6:12:56 AM
Melissa, you have obviously faced yourself in the good and bad of your life...and come through the other side with a clear vision of who you are as a person, and to me, that is a good thing. You have chosen religion as the engine that runs your life, and if that works for you, all the better. Wishing you well. Cheers, Dan
