Tiger's Eye (Short Story) - 7/23/2009 3:55:17 PM
I stumbled on this trying to find my way around this website, and I'm glad. It's so perfectly short and to the point. It flows beautifully with a rhythm that is simple and natural. Even as a short story, this is nothing short of poetic.

Sleep with one eye Open (Short Story) - 1/5/2009 12:03:14 PM
Wanted the story to go on. Nicely done.

Carnival Nights PART 1 (Short Story) - 5/23/2008 9:45:59 AM

Am I Now? (Short Story) - 5/9/2007 10:25:04 AM
Lori, my daugher went through similar torment. There is life after school, if we will embrace the courage needed to go out and seek it. She finally has made efforts to do so at age 25. This is a heart wrenching write, and I wish you the best as you continue to heal from a dark past. Grow in love my friend, and be a better person than they will ever hope to be. Michelle

Carnival Nights PART 1 (Short Story) - 4/11/2007 3:00:28 PM
well something good id say. id also say you should stick to the horror stories you seem very good at them. one thing i wanted you to know in case youve never been published though. there is a sight thats free called publishamerica.com they look at your stories and publish them and give you roylties for the books sold. just thought you might like to know this.

Am I Now? (Short Story) - 4/14/2006 6:53:17 PM
The pain is real until you get past it and see that it was all an illusion. Suddenly, what they think doesn't matter. Or maybe, not so suddenly. One day, you look upon them all and wish them love and light and you mean it, really mean it. No bitterness. No hatred. You are free.

Tiger's Eye (Short Story) - 4/14/2006 6:49:02 PM
And that's why I never go to the circus. Maybe you were a tiger in one of your past lives. Keep writing so more people can feel the pain that we put our animal friends through. It wasn't meant to be that way. Excellent style!

Tiger's Eye (Short Story) - 7/13/2005 12:43:49 PM
Well done! I was drawn in from the beginning and couldn't stop reading. I could feel the tiger's pain.

Am I Now? (Short Story) - 8/9/2004 8:51:41 AM

Am I Now? (Short Story) - 8/8/2004 4:32:39 PM
An acid and bitter reflection on past sorrowful and angry memories . It is always best to get the rattlesnake out of your belly , and never look backwards Lori Rock on babe Peter

Tiger's Eye (Short Story) - 7/29/2004 3:59:47 AM
Lori, I thought I would stop by and "Tiger's Eye" caught my eye. I must say that I became that poor tiger as I read your short story. You wrote well from a tiger's point of view. It must be horrible for an animal to live in a cage, to be trained by a whip, and have perform for people. This is a wonderful story. Hope there's a heaven for animals, too. Patty

Sleep with one eye Open (Short Story) - 2/9/2004 12:06:43 AM
You should write more in the horror genre, because you really can write these kind of horror tales -- impressive write just the same, masterfully wrought.

Tiger's Eye (Short Story) - 11/17/2003 12:11:21 PM

Spectacular Attractions Offers More Than Spectaculars (Article) - 4/13/2009 9:50:57 AM
I worked for Drago from 1989 to 1993 Paul & Jerry Amore were the best boses a guy could ever have. They always made sure nobody did without. If you showed you were a really hard worker they always wanted you back the next year. It was really one of the greatest experiences in my life. I will never forget Paul & Jerry and the friendship we had. ROBERT LEWIS

Pappy: Interview with the Carny (Article) - 11/13/2007 6:37:54 AM
I have many fond memories of Pappy. When I look back at my days on a midway, I think of Pappy and smile. The year I met Pappy, I went to work with Fiesta, and Pappy was a fixture, I never think of that merry go round without thinking of Pappy. I had a cat with me that year, and would take my cat out for walks, and Pappy used to tell everybody that I was the only women he knew that walked her pussy on a leash. Thank you for taking the time to write this it is a wonderful walk down memory lane.

Swan Song of the Bearcreek Country Fair (Article) - 3/12/2007 6:33:07 AM
I thought it was great. I am from Indiana also, and 20 miles from Bearcreek Farms.

Moon Syndrome (Article) - 4/14/2006 7:02:06 PM
Very interesting idea. I ran away with the carnival when I was 14 and left it when I was 16. I wouldn't trade that experience in for anything. The Moon Syndrome, are you a Cancer or Pisces by any chance?

Swan Song of the Bearcreek Country Fair (Article) - 3/23/2004 4:17:59 PM
Very good nostalgia!

As Clear as Glass for Wabash Valley Shows (Article) - 3/23/2004 4:15:50 PM
Well done. If you haven't you should try submitting your nostalgia articles to some of the magazines online that publish nostalgia. There was a magazine, Good Old Days, but I'm not sure it's online or still in print. Your carnival articles would be perfect for it.

Today (Poetry) - 9/17/2009 2:40:44 AM
just taking one day at a time, very expressive poem

Shuttin' These Words Down (Poetry) - 7/26/2009 12:20:21 PM
Lori, dear you said mostly all that needs t o be said of these bad and sparingly dense and moneyless days. I know I lost my trailer after hubby Tom died and am living in small efficiency apt in low income housing high rise, hate it, but have to do what you have to do. Really I suppose it is going to get worse and never better, according to God's word. Sorry to be religious , but could not help it either.

Shuttin' These Words Down (Poetry) - 6/13/2009 5:31:43 PM
You are not alone though that is small consolation, I had to put my own house up for sale Friday as I can no longer afford to keep it. As for the membership, if you don't mind a bronze membership we have a program in place now that may help...let me know. hugs fee

Shuttin' These Words Down (Poetry) - 6/13/2009 12:03:25 PM
You're not alone. "We must love one another or die," as W.H.Auden said. It's time Americans stop living only for themselves. We must get out of this all of us together or face the whirlwind. Good luck to you.

Shuttin' These Words Down (Poetry) - 6/13/2009 9:19:54 AM
Lori, I think you hit everyone today with a strong dose of reality. Some realizing it more than others. You just have to wonder..when will it all end. Mary

Shuttin' These Words Down (Poetry) - 6/13/2009 9:17:53 AM
These are very tough times, Lori. You express this very effectively via your verses here. You know, you can be a member of AD for free. A friend of mine is a member. He is able to post and to comment and it costs him nothing. Of course, this is not the same as having a gold membership but it works. Love and best wishes to you, Regis

Shuttin' These Words Down (Poetry) - 6/13/2009 9:00:37 AM
(((Lori))), You are not a "meager poet." TRUST me when I say this. Request a sponsor, you never know what may happen. It's there for the offering. Ya know? You're in my prayers - hate to see this happening to you. :( (((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(

Today (Poetry) - 6/13/2009 8:57:08 AM
Well, I haven't lost my job yet, but I've had to take a 5% pay cut, and have been told to take a one week unpaid furlough before the end of the year. The newspaper business is really shaky now. When I walk into the publishing room, it's like a ghost town.

Slough Night (Poetry) - 6/13/2009 8:54:27 AM
Nicely done, Lori! One can feel the wandering soul in this.

Shuttin' These Words Down (Poetry) - 6/13/2009 8:52:19 AM

Shuttin' These Words Down (Poetry) - 6/13/2009 8:44:51 AM
Hi Lori,it is so tough out here in this world from loosing jobs to unemployment. The best thing that we can do is hope for the better. Also despite the recession that we are having, people should appreciate the littliest things that they have from their family, friends and most of all their lives. Those things makes a person rich inside of their hearts.I hope things will go right for you.It will get better somehow.take care EDWIN

Today (Poetry) - 4/8/2009 10:59:36 AM

Today (Poetry) - 4/7/2009 11:22:30 PM
You are so right on, it seems each day is another toss of the dice and it just keeps spiraling downward as all we once new vanishes before our eyes... Be always safe, Karen

Today (Poetry) - 4/7/2009 3:53:00 PM
(((Lori))), (((HUGS))) love and prayer - tears rim every word of this poem - don't go. The Den would be a much sadder place without you, here - request a sponsor. That's why it was set up, so no Poet would have to be turned away due to lack of funds. Karla.

Beneath the Paler Sun (Poetry) - 3/14/2009 4:33:51 PM
There is a great truth in your message. We spend so much time wishing on tomorrow, Regretting yesterday, And not living for the moment. These words could be of great use to alot of us if we could only abide by them, God Bless
