Trust In Me: God Can Turn Bare Trees Gold (Book) - 12/27/2003 5:43:19 AM
A very well written story that touched me personally. It seems as though Mrs. Eichler followed me during my life and wrote my life story in her book. It is so close to my experiences that it kind of brought tears to my eyes. My faith and trust in God has certainly carried me in the same manner as her character Joseph. I also experienced problems with my parents, especially my father who never bothered to do anything for me or my sisters and brothers. All my life I prayed and asked help from God on understanding this life and myself. I got my answers and directed my life accordingly. It is truly amazing this experience of meeting Mrs. Eichler. I'm still trying to figure this out. Maybe it was meant to be. Anyway get the book and read it, it is a very good story of inspiration. Thanks Pat, I don't know what is really going on other than God and faith. God certainly turned my bare trees to gold. Love and respect GEMorrison
Trust In Me: God Can Turn Bare Trees Gold (Book) - 2/24/2003 3:04:58 PM
Hi Pat,
I really enjoyed your book. At first, I wasn't too sure because of the first two chapters, but I really became deeply involved with the characters when I returned to the book. You write well.
This was an insightful book with many twists and turns.
I believe it needs to be on fiction shelves. I am going to share it with my daughter-in-law next, then a few more friends.
Let me explain about the first two chapters. I felt that the little boy talked like an adult rather than a child with so many adult actions. Was that because he was Jesus? I put it down after the first two chapters and came back to it the next day with reservations. He was deeply religious, like an adult, but how? I had many questions with such adult language from such a little boy.
After reading on, I saw how his mother was micromanaging his life, and then ditched him because of what she had done and seeing him reminded her of it????? So many events to keep the reader intrigued; I was hooked from that point on. I loved the sequence of events in his life and his love for God. His faith! His actions to Bob. Will we meet him again?
I look forward to book 2. You did such incredible work for your first novel
If a fellow Christian would read this book from cover to cover, they would be renewed by his testimony and life. I liked that you put real life into the book. The sex scene was great!
Well, Pat Michaels Eichler; you are a true talented author! Congratulations!
You've touched my heart.

Trust In Me: God Can Turn Bare Trees Gold (Book) - 10/29/2002 4:55:50 AM
This book was gripping and realistic. Joe faced a tragic period in history, the Vietnam War and the National Guard shooting the students at Kent State University during war protests. Being only fourteen at the time of the shooting, I didn't truly understand about it. But Eichler made it realistic to me. Also, Joe's temptations and moral dilemma's made him a strong character. I actually felt his spiritual struggle, bring a Christian myself. His mother's rejection was truly sad but he was able to rise above the situation and not be bitter.

Pat,
The book kept my interest throughout, although I liked the middle part more so than the last few chapters; these seem to drag a little to me. The first sentence of chapter 4 was wonderful - "A day is but a flicker of light that approaches its end and leaves in its wake memories to delight in or not."
Joe makes for a strong character; living in the sixties, experiencing Viet Nam, remainng a virgin all add up to one good guy.
Trust In Me: God Can Turn Bare Trees Gold (Book) - 5/15/2002 7:30:59 PM
The sudden calamity that befalls Joseph in the first chapter is cleverly hidden throughout the book but never leaves your thoughts. Each chapter offers the potential for a breakthrough in accepting what is really affecting and determining Joseph's ability to cope with life. The best part to me was seeing that his trust in God never failed him . And in the end, there was really no resolution to his real problem of facing that his mother had murdered his friend, but it showed that with God's help Joseph could overcome even that . The lesson comes to life , trust God and live on. He will use you in His way, no matter what your circumstance.

Shalom Patricia.
You have touched on the esence of life here, a subject few really begin to understand. There is so much more to life than the averave, oer oven above average person knows exists. I can say you have brocken through the threshhold of the spiritual experience, but there is so much more. I noticed there are two more titles the same. Will visit them and write a review.

Journey with Cancer (Article) - 8/1/2008 6:07:12 AM
I wouldn't touch this...you've done a nice job. This disease is such a huge part of our lives now; as it seems everyone we touch has it or someone we love has it... Until there is a cure; we can only pray that those touched with this will keep their trust and faith in Him, and that those of us who love them, will be more understanding. I personally feel that "fear" oftentimes keeps people away....not that they don't love or care...just that they don't know "how" to help... Your piece certainly helps...keep working on this as you are valued... lindalaw

Glad you and John are doing better, Patricia. Just take care of yourselves; that's all I ask. I will keep you both in prayer, and yes, in times of trouble, in times of need, God DOES provide. We got that Confirmation from Him when He provided food and finances to where Karla and I were able to have a most wonderful Christmas. Our Christmas was nothing short of miraculous; one of the best ones in a long time! Very uplifting and inspiring write; good to see you here! I've missed you!

Where Does Cruelty Come From? (Article) - 10/15/2007 2:28:58 PM
I like you, and I like what you say. I got here because I read someone else's story or article and you placed a comment so I clicked on your name. That item was by a man who saved a woman's life and then broke his leg later. You told him that there was no connection between the events. I should retrace my steps and see what the author's name was but the item was "The Old Woman and The Sea". From it I got a wrong impression of you because I thougt you were saying that the devil does not exist, but I am glad that I looked you up. After reading this I feel a kindred spirit. I hope you will visit me at my site.
Many Kinds of Love (Article) - 10/7/2006 7:52:35 AM
Love is live, love is living...Line by line, so interesting and thought provoking. To me perfect love has no bounds and no exceptions and no conditions. Fraud once stated "love is a transient psychosis" (I believe he was referring to the romantic love or infatuation couples go through). I wonder what Fraud would have thought of "Many Kinds of Love." I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing. My best, Gloria

The Effects of Generational Abuse (Article) - 5/31/2005 2:22:17 PM
An excellent article Patty! You brought out the salient points and did it with clarity! Abuse is like a malady passed down from generation to generation. It is almost like a disease. It takes on many forms, mental physical, spiritual,etc...the ways in which we can be abused is myriad. It must be located in the person and stopped by achieving a transformed mind. When doing christian counseling I found that the only way to help people overcome abuse, as with most other problems, is to replace the tape in their minds that keeps telling them it is what to do. It needs to be replaced with a new tape that will eventually renew the mind by erasing the old one. We just can't break habits,it doesn't work, unless we find something to replace it. Great write !
Love,
Eileen

Anointed? (Article) - 3/12/2004 10:47:48 AM
In the theatre where I sat watching this movie, I was struck by how different the audience was than the usual young to middling crowd of Saturday night dates I have usually seen at the movies. Directly in front of me sat a mother and her middle-aged son; she had hair white as snow and moved slowly down the aisle, using a walker. There were others like her in the seats ahead of me. The silence beginning to end of the showing was palpable, and by end, it had a stunned quality. I heard no laughter, no chatter. I did, on occasion, hear soft sobs.
What I did reflect upon, as I watched this movie, was how often indeed I saw facets of my guilty self on the screen in front of me. From the man who anxiously brought to everyone's attention his innocence, repeating he was not guilty, he was not guilty of anything... to Peter denying thrice his association with Christ out of fear for his own safety... to the masses who watched, horrified, but doing nothing. Who of us can be assured we would not be the same? The hammer and nail is in each of our hands.
I, too, posted an essay here as a response to seeing the movie. It is haunting me still, giving me pause for much deep introspection.
Anointed? (Article) - 3/5/2004 1:15:27 PM
So sad when people joke and kid around in a movie like the "Passion of the Christ"; that is sickening! I want to see the movie, but haven't yet. Still, I DO know ONE thing: I am NOT getting ANYTHING to eat OR drink before it; I DON'T want to URPSE on ANYONE! LOL
Sorry about the unexpected "anointing" you got; that must have been COLD! LOL
Thanks for the sharing!

Anointed? (Article) - 3/4/2004 10:16:34 PM
I have debated whether or not to see the movie. After all, I can see in my mind the vivid Biblical portrayal and many times have wept bitter tears when it flash across my thoughts like a film clip. I don't need a movie that's grossed over 70-million dollars in its first week to remind me of what Christ "willing" did for us all. But, perhaps it might lead a few to our Lord... ya think?
By the way, my dear sister, I've sent email and email requesting your mailing address, so I can mail the CD to you. I still don't have your address! Now, would you please take a few seconds and do that for me? Good!
Oh, and this was very well written, actually even a bit comical. Indeed, human nature has not changed. They crucify our Lord every day and think nothing of it. We all put Him on the cross, if it comes to who did it. But, in truth, He put himself there quite willing: that's how much He loves His Father and us.

Well anointed with soda, was it good stuff, or the low priced brand, there is a difference, the good stuff will was the color out of your hair, the low stuff, will just not wash out of anything...LOL, I have no desire to see the movie, if maybe someday it is out on video and somebody wants to loan it to me, then maybe, but I hate movie theatres, for just the reasons you discussed...so did you find it enjoyable or whatever it was you went for...all the hype is making for negative publicity, but any publicity is still publicity, making Mr. Gibson money, hand over fist...Peace, Ed & Rufuz
