Dream 455 (Short Story) - 8/4/2004 10:17:34 AM
Right out of a painting by Salvador Dali with art thrown in by whimsical Pablo Picasso. I truly enjoyed this creative story today. Sometimes I'd just like to live in a world of paintings.
very well done.

Ecstasy Upon the edge (Poetry) - 5/13/2013 7:19:49 AM
Amor this is such a thing of bittersweet beauty. Deeply emotive and deeply heartfelt. One of the most beautiful and affecting poems I've ever read.
Ecstasy Upon the edge (Poetry) - 5/12/2013 4:31:09 PM
Lament is what comes to my mind Amor. Beautiful, sad, an awakening, and yet, ecstasy upon the edge. Our lives are all about the climax of all things, bonding, sports, writing, life challenges, food, nature, religion..etc..etc. This one made me think about many things. I have found in my aloneness I have done great things pushed to that edge!
All consuming my friend!

Ecstasy Upon the edge (Poetry) - 5/11/2013 11:43:32 PM
Powerful expression of the deep spiritual longing,
emotional hollow void and an inexplicable emptiness
that...lost love creates.
Great poem, Amor. Felt in chest...heart.
With warm regards Isabella.

Ecstasy Upon the edge (Poetry) - 5/11/2013 11:12:07 AM
The oft quoted argument, "anticipation is greater than reality" is put to the test here in what for me is a truly heartfelt and painful mirroring of something that was and that which still might be. Beautifully uttered, void of simplistic lost love rhetoric.
Ecstasy Upon the edge (Poetry) - 5/11/2013 5:39:15 AM
So many have known having love and then finding out how it feels when it's gone. It hurts. As you say, "to be fractured when once we were whole".
Love ya!
Jane
Ecstasy Upon the edge (Poetry) - 5/11/2013 2:23:24 AM
Much here to savor, much to be saddened by. Tasting love and its sublime feelings only to have it whisked away, to leave us empty and wanting is a sad occurrence that most of us can relate to . . .

In Synthasia's Eye (Poetry) - 3/21/2013 8:22:07 AM
Something exotic, something mystical, something metaphysical in the physicality of this exotic write permeates and suffuses the imagery and the ideology created by these four stanzas: may the invisible not liberate as easily as it ensnares? or maybe the inversion, layer upon layer, subverts itself in an essence that ultimately transcends "hallowed ground" to attain an apotheosis whose allure even Synthasia cannot resist. Food for the god of thought, is it not?
Wonderfully wrought poem, Amor.

In Synthasia's Eye (Poetry) - 3/20/2013 8:26:54 AM
I agree with John Flanagan, Amor, that this is "writing of a higher order." My first impression for the feel of this writing was the word "abyss," as in bottomless...not as in abysmal. Depth and charge of energy in dark and light colors: "....moon/a thin line between yesterday and today,"..aching dream,"and gravity equated to too much ventured." The yellow highlight for me is the line: "emerging on the opposite side of heaven." Wonderous writing! ~~ Diana
Gardenia Mornings (Poetry) - 3/19/2013 9:15:00 AM
Oh, Amor! This is m e s m e r i z i n g. So like the startlingly sensuous and impossible to describe scent of a gardenia. Glows like one! Not that I am telling you anything, but it is also very much in keeping with the fading line between poetry, prose poetry, and 'sudden' or 'flash' fiction. Fiction may not fit. Reads like mini-memoir.:)
Love the passion that comes through and the fluidity(for lack of a better term).
Thank you, my friend, thank you.

It's good to read you again. Synthasia sounds like a lost love that didn't understand the inner poet in you. But then, she may be a metaphor for something entirely different I haven't discerned yet.

as the years pass (Poetry) - 1/4/2013 8:55:14 AM
Unpardon me but I relent it boldly;
For it is far ahead, if I can be sure of it,
And far it is, that my hallucination be valid,
And hallucination it is, as it should be,
And however, unlike itself, mysterious, unknown, and untested,
So it be foreseen in my tireless search.

Gardenia Mornings (Poetry) - 9/30/2012 12:29:34 PM
... like one, long, lovely exhalation of love and consciousness before taking in the next wonderful breath of the gardenia's enduring scent and spirit-laden, memory-filled fragrance. I think our olfactory sense is the most acute when it comes to recreating images of people, time and place. Fabulously flowing and yet tightly controlled writing that is wrought from a profound well and life-spring of experience and longing. Just beautiful, Amor! xx

Oh how I love gardenias, they do not grow here
but I was born and raised in California and we
had a bush with this lovely white delicate
flowers with a beautiful smell. Their petals
so delicate you could not touch them or they
would bruise...
What a lovely romantic sharing of such wonderful

Angels Retreat (Poetry) - 8/26/2012 12:01:31 PM
I LOVE THIS WORK, AMOR...THE IMAGERY IS JUST FANTASTIC! THE UNIQUENESS OF THIS WORK IS WONDERFUL, HOWEVER, THE 'ANGELS' ARE JUST A LITTLE 'TOO' HUMAN FOR ME THOUGH. I MEAN, IF I DIDN'T KNOW BETTER, I'D FEEL SORRY FOR THEM. I RECENTLY TOOK A BOOK FROM MY BOOK CASE AND READ IT. IT WAS ENTITLED, 'A SIMPLE PATH'. A BOOK FOCUSING ON THE WORK OF MOTHER THERESA IN INDIA. WHEN I READ YOUR WORK, I THOUGHT OF HOW YOUR DESCRIPTION OF ANGELS FIT HER TO A 'T'. A PERFECT PORTRAIT OF THIS TRUE 'ANGEL'... ON EARTH...MOTHER THERESA. SHE WORKED SURROUNDED BY THOSE RACKED WITH PAIN. PAIN THAT WE KNOW SHE MUST HAVE FELT EMOTIONALLY BUT SHE PUT THEIR NEEDS ABOVE HERS BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO MAKE THEIR TRANSITION FROM EARTH TO HEAVEN EASIER. IT WAS HER CALLING, SHE DID WHAT GOD WANTED HER TO DO. SHE WORKED WITH A HEART FULL OF DEEP CONCERN FOR THE SICK AND DYING THAT SHE ATTENDED. SHE WORKED UNTIL THE VERY END, WHEN SHE COULDN'T WORK ANYMORE. SHE REFUSED TO CHANGE HER 'STAND', HER MODE OF GIVING, HER HUMILITY... WHEN IT CAME TO 'SERVICE'. A FAMOUS QUOTE COMES TO MIND AND I HAVE CHANGED IT A LITTLE, BUT IT STILL FITS HER PERFECTLY; 'OLD EARTHLY ANGELS NEVER DIE...THEY JUST FADE AWAY'. HEAVENLY ANGELS NEVER DIE BUT NEITHER DO THEY FADE AWAY. THIS IS A MARVELOUS WORK OF FANTASY, PRESENTED IN A MOST BELIEVEABLE WAY AND I ENJOYED IT. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...

I LOVE YOUR RHYME SCHEME - EXCELLENT! AND OF COURSE, THIS HAPPENS SO OFTEN...TWO PEOPLE FIND THEMSELVES NO LONGER IN LOVE WITH ONE ANOTHER AND THEY HAVE TO THINK BACK, THEY HAVE TO WONDER...WHEN DID IT HAPPEN? Angels Retreat (Poetry) - 8/21/2012 8:52:02 AM
You write so beautifully, Amor!
In spite of all hurts and mistakes, God and the angels and those watching from above are always there for us. I've been thinking too of how we bring each other to life here on earth through our love and whatever attention we give to each other and to each cause.
Your last line is so captivating and the whole poem memorable!
Angels Retreat (Poetry) - 8/21/2012 8:50:15 AM

Am particularly impacted by that final stanza, Amor, with the arrival of those "rookies" to take their place in the line of defence and to earn their spurs while
"the world spins slowly in three dimensions
and angels give as if they had never felt pain"
... fabulous closing lines to an inspired and beautiful piece of work. So lovely to read you again. xx

I DON'T KNOW, AMOR. I FEEL THAT AT LEAST HALF OF A FANTASY'S VALUE ...AND BEAUTY...IS THE 'SECRET' OF IT. TO REVEAL IT WOULD BE LOSING SO MUCH OF IT...DON'T YOU THINK? Shared Confessions (Poetry) - 5/6/2012 9:08:32 AM
spill then the ink of your dearest confessions
those meaningful words arisen from your heart
that reveal where we go in the sweet midnight
where we find comfort in one another’s refrain
the symmetry of our dreams meet our desires
evenly paced within the beating of our hearts
here our two souls pace a ground of tranquility
and find the treasure hidden behind our eyes
to me this stanza is a perfect summation of soulmate love, Amor, starting with that spilled "ink of your dearest confessions" which goes on to locate "the treasure hidden behind our eyes"; here ensues such deep peacefulness and contentment, through the "symmetry of dreams", the "desires evenly paced" leading to the "ground of tranquillity" which sounds like Heaven itself: to be forever wrapped in the arms of the one that we truly love. To reside in open-hearted lightness instead of the tippy-toeing dark would indeed be bliss. xx

To trust another with your deepest, maybe darkest confession(s) is a fearful, but sometimes necessary thing to rid yourself of. To come to someone and bare all is the greatest test of friendship/and or/love.

There was a time (Poetry) - 5/4/2012 9:12:34 AM
So poignant Amor and so beautifully penned. I think many of us do the best we can at the moment. It's very sad that most of the important life altering decisions we make are made when we are too young to have the experience and wisdom necessary to understand such things. I know how hard it is to keep the heart focused on the beauty of life when we have witnessed so much of its other side and regrets are one of our worst enemies. Brilliant poetry as always.

You convey so beautifully, so soulfully, the intense desire we all have to live life fully!
Your poem has such a genuine understanding of how we must face the infinite mystery of love and come to terms with it however we must.

Christine

This is a deeply woven work of beauty and art. I love many of the images that I envisioned in this piece. Thank you for the reading of my poem, Mother. She has Alzheimer's disease and it has been a journey for both of us. I am her daughter/caregiver/best friend.

Amor,
This poem is very heart touching. So many people can relate to your tender words. Looking back, even in a dream is counter productive. We have to live with our choices and learn from any mistakes that we have made in order to have a more fulfilled life. March onward, spiritual soldier you are an amazing person and life is at your fingertips.
Thought provoking poetry!
Peace, love and light,
Amber

Your poem reads like a roadmap of marriage in America. Our lives are so bound up in routine that even love becomes stale when we continue along the same path every day. Everyone should read it before they contemplate marriage and not after they've had that first divorce.

For anyone who has attempted one, two, or even three attempts at that conquest of mountainous terrain, there is much to say for this poetic examination of what some might think the imponderable. Yes, one can work hard at controlling the conscious moments of attempts and failure, but during the free fall of dreams, one can only close one's eyes each night and hope the lack of resolve is waning. ...Why you still appear in my dreams..." well, sometimes clouds just won't clear to allow a successful attempt for the summit and the moment to finally claim: It is done.

The good times and the meaningfulness of intense relationships like the one you describe are not easily put aside or forgotten, even after we 'move on'...Perhaps it is the nature of Love itself, and the memory of what 'may have been'...Love past or present often makes little sense...

what a complete poppet of a poem and makes me feel all sugary-pink and apple-spicey... The stuff that "little girls are made of", according to the old rhyme. This has "feel good" through every line and serif, Amor, and if she is an adult (as opposed to a darling Daddy's little girl!), then she must be a perfect saint for whom the very breeze would lay itself prostrate just to have her walk across it and be able to kiss her feet. You have dressed your tender thoughts wonderfully well here so that we can picture perfectly this angel-girl without any sense of cloying. Such expert balance in writing is very hard to achieve. Bless you - and her! :)) xx

A truly introspective poem. "however faint are the changes that the two of us should meet as we wander a field of dreams where reality fails to tread" ... sometimes there is great joy and comfort in that field of dreams, where in reality, most things are out of our control. Too bad we can not control our dreams at night, at least we would have the solace for even a little while. The heart is a tender organ, very tender. Beautiful poem. ~Elizabeth

Warnings from the Heart (Poetry) - 4/16/2012 1:24:31 PM
How this makes me sigh, Amor! Wandering a field of dreams where reality fails to tread breaks the tender blades of those desires that lie in wait and their sweet-smelling fragrance surely stimulates that impetus which then provokes them further. The heart is truth; it is a fallow bed that receives whatever is sown into it and judges not. It's warnings can be trusted and if love is genuine, each committed heart can bare to live out the truth it guilessly exposes. Fantasy and fiction are not the same and the heart knows which is which. But fantasy can be truth in waiting that we "dress up and play with" in the meantime. How your words make me wander... Awesome and beautiful. xx

Warnings from the Heart (Poetry) - 4/15/2012 4:59:30 PM
In this writing I feel turmoil in conflict and confluence. It feels like a push-me-pull you . I like the clause, "as our feet sweep the tall grass leaving unseen obstacles underfoot." That contains so much potential of risk in all ways possible. Adventurous read that I find can touch many personal situations. ~~ Diana
Warnings from the Heart (Poetry) - 4/15/2012 1:55:30 PM
Quite a lesson of life and what we can, and cannot, do about the path we walk and the decisions we must make. There is a lot here to mull and ponder, but basically the questions you raise are good questions and we can only hope how we answer them will chart our course for the good.

Amor,

Facing the IFs (Poetry) - 4/9/2012 12:02:22 PM
This is an astonishingly beautiful work of art. Labelle's "since all our summer flowers have frozen" meets your "When the realities of life have demanded our place and time?" I love your line "And words rarely fail us in that time of such incessant need." It is what is drawn from us when we view a movie and watch for and study the moment when it 'all converges,' and the absolute essence of the crux of the matter surfaces..in a 'meeting' of 'opposites.' The shiner for me is: "That the heart takes our souls by the hand forward impenitent." Wonderful. ~~ Diana
Beacon of Hope (Poetry) - 4/9/2012 11:44:07 AM
"Wondering what it is you are doing/To have captured my every thought" This line holds an enormous amount of acknowledgement and reverence, which to me exemplifies your background profile disclosure of "One receives what one puts into relationships and there are no limits." Attention given elicits attention received. I like the detail in here: "In the thick of night near the window" and "skirting the floor in that soft music." The notes of longing play beautifully in this. ~~ Diana

Alone When We Were Together (Poetry) - 4/7/2012 6:23:16 AM
This poem reminds me of the maxim I've held since being introduced to it many years ago while studying Zen. To think object-love is to risk never knowing the love-within and thus to always seek to be in love with someone/something rather than pursuing the conjoining of a "state of love" with someone/something. Thus, "I am in love with you" takes on special importance and spiritual meaning, as your poem so adroitly allows its subtext to whisper.
Facing the IFs (Poetry) - 4/6/2012 12:23:17 AM

Belle's mirror image: like a call and response, a liturgy, a prayer, a catechism. Such depths of feeling - experienced or intuited - are sacred and it takes souls purified through a true love's flame to be able to walk sufficiently upon such hallowed ground as to give authentic voice to them. You do. Yours are. Extraordinary and breathtaking work, Amor, bless you. xx
