Fable of Figs (Short Story) - 10/17/2007 8:00:43 PM
When I was 6, my brother told me peas were cool to eat because they popped like zits in your mouth. I've never liked them since! When I lived in Peru, me and a friend spent 2 hours sitting up in a fig tree just eating figs--soooooo delicious, but our lips went numb from the skin. Now I know why. I'll have to warn my kids. --Charlie
Eight Hours Of Heaven (Short Story) - 5/13/2007 3:34:37 PM
My dear Sherry,
I see no one has left a review of this lovely story for nearly a year. Too bad. They don't know what they missed.
As Ronald Hull (below) stated, this "event" was commonplace during World War II. Life and emotions got speeded up because the only time you had was this very moment. Tomorrow was uncertain. Life and your whole future was uncertain. So every moment burned with great intensity.
I am blessed beyond belief. I met the girl of my dreams when I was only fourteen (a few days after her 14th birthday). It was 1947. The war was over, but meeting her was an unexpected and emotional event. Our story ends beautifully. We've now been married fifty-five years. Every day her presence makes my life glow with meaning.
Eight Hours of Heaven is a lovely story that captures the mood and emotions of the time. My story tells you that these moments do happen. "For all we have in life is Love."
Thank you for allowing me to relive the feeling of a wonderful time.
Richard

That story was repeated a thousand times over during WW II. So many heavens ended in tragedy. For some reason, two of my three uncles in the war, divorced and remarried during the war.

Dear Sherry Gail
Its only when we really love and cherish a person that we can have a whacky moment. Stevie's imagination was on top form and he shared it with you. That's brotherly love.
As for me, I love figs and always will. But maybe soon, its a story I can tell grandchildren all over again.
A great submission.

And wasn't that a delightful read. Being a former military person I was all set to get cynical halfway through this starlit romance but, quite frankly, the beauty and innocence of it kidnapped my heart and won me over. Such a joyfully warm story masterfully told on this chilly winter night. Thank you.

I am sorry I missed this one sis. This is really a good poem, and some of those evil spirits are not necessarily what you said here but are people who like to harm children. This is a cute poem with a very real message. Thank you for sharing it.
May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your den sister, Barbie.

Halloween Streets (Poetry) - 11/1/2009 1:59:07 PM
Sherry,
Your work always sings perfectly. Your visions are with clarity, each time. One only has to see you've written to know they are in for a wonderful treat. So while the kids enjoyed the candy treats of Halloween, us adults were in for a treat of our own when we visited your den.
Thanks again.
Lisa
