September Wind (Literary Fiction) (Book) - 3/10/2013 12:13:02 PM
An amazing story of a young girls search for where she belongs, this story is proof that life does not make you a victim, you can make a choice to never give up. So descriptive that you can see, smell, and feel everything along with Emily. A must read for everyone.

Kathleen, you've got my attention in your excerpts! Your descriptions, wonderful and word pictures - great! Several lines lured me. I was right there with Emily. The lines that curled my toes were, "...she shivered, squeezing her eyes in an effort to lose the vision...she held her breath..." I was crouched right there with Emily, shrinking at the next move. Although, I'm envisioning something...it certainly sounds like a page turner to me. Great job!

Kathleen has a wonderful ability to draw word pictures of characters that bring them to life so that even the minor inhabitants of her book become real. She also uses the same brush to paint vivid pictures of her main character's emotions so that the reader is drawn in to her story, and pulled along unrelentingly by the desire to discover what the future holds for her.
September Wind (Literary Fiction) (Book) - 7/27/2012 6:27:55 PM
This book is filled with painfully beautiful descriptions that take you to a different time and place. Many times, I felt as though I was walking with Emily on her journey, and experiencing her life. A roller coaster of emotions and a page turner all the way to the last chapter. I absolutely loved it! At the top of my recomendation list!
Gliding Up The Coast (Short Story) - 9/10/2012 10:58:54 AM
You have such a brilliant imagination Kathleen. Your short stories are too short, I always want to know more!
He chose to stay silent (Poetry) - 4/1/2013 6:29:27 AM
Shock and nerve damage. Understand that he was whipped so much that his skin peeled off. After a while, He probably felt nothing. A few years ago, I broke my leg, both bones, 6 inches above the ankle, completely, with a loud, “crack,” but no pain or shock, whatsoever. I had the foot x-rayed, but the breaks were not discovered for fifteen days. It is quite possible, after his initial beating, that he felt nothing of the wounds inflicted after that.

I know about the cruelty of bullying since I experienced it as a child because my parents were immigrants and we were not readily "accepted" in the community. Well done, Kathleen. Love and best wishes,

Every Lover's Dream (Poetry) - 11/13/2012 4:35:01 AM
Dear Kathleen,
Such a small poem that speaks volumes. We can't see love as we can't see God but we know God is love and we thank God that He gives us love with care.
Well... sounds like a new poem..

Never-ending Pardons (Poetry) - 9/19/2012 6:21:26 AM
Oh my what love can do, only when you are in the midst of it, on the front lines, protecting them from the bullets, bandaging them, and then if the war is ever over, to get them over their hurt, will the war ever be over, who knows when the immediate, the very moment is more important to act, think and feel about. Bless you!
Never-ending Pardons (Poetry) - 9/17/2012 11:46:45 AM
It's hard for me to fathom the problems of being an enabler for an addict. I've only been supportive of the ones that I've known. I would never enable them to get drugs or whatever compulsion they need to just get through the day. In that respect I have been a success, because, while I wasn't there to feed the addiction, I was there with support when the addiction was over.

Never-ending Pardons (Poetry) - 9/16/2012 4:26:13 PM
I'm (was) the addict / Fought my demons alone / I conquered the demons and walked away from the dope and a lot of mental problems caused by ... won't go into that just now. I like the simplicity of this poem, because being on drugs and getting off drugs is actually very simple. Your mind has to be up front and center and never leaves you during the trying days, week, months . . . whatever, that it takes before you know you have joined the human race again.

A MOTHER IN WAIT (Poetry) - 9/2/2012 10:32:55 AM
Bless you for the precious awareness of the fact that nothing is guaranteed but to be appreciated as fully as possible and cherished. Your compassion for others and the depth of your awareness of the precious gift you had even back then when raising three sons might have been pretty tough as well as rewarding, speaks well of the person I feel you must be. Be well, Kathy
Peeling The Truth (Poetry) - 9/2/2012 10:30:00 AM
Kathleen you have wrung tears fom me both for your sad tale here told so bravely that I relate to in the loss of my brother, and the gripping way you express your grief and the comforting epitomy you reach. I invite you to read a poem of mine, called "Dear Lord" and I think if you do you will see we come to a similar place in which to lay down at least some of that grief. Thank you for your comment on Hummingbird, and thank you for this offering. Well done indeed. Be well, Kathy

Unrequited Bitter (Poetry) - 8/15/2012 6:34:44 PM
People who commit suicide hide their pain well.
They do not want to burden themselves and so
being in that dark and deep well they are unable
to rationalize. They end their life and the ones
who are left behind feel the pain that the person
was carrying.

Unrequited Bitter (Poetry) - 8/11/2012 10:17:01 AM
