I met Vonetta McGee at the Los Angeles International Airport. Max Julien and I had just been cast in "The Mack," and Max Julien and I were flying to Oakland, California for Producer Harvey Bernhard's party for Frank Ward and the Ward Brothers at the Hyatt Hotel. Vonetta McGee had a black knit cap pulled down over her short cut natural and forehead, but her beautiful large eyes were sizing me up. At that time, Vonetta McGee didn't just live with Max Julien, they considered themselves partners who had a plan to conquer Hollywood. I had no personal interest in Max Julien, but Vonetta McGee was making sure I knew that Max Julien belonged to her.
While at Actor/Director D'Urville Martin's Los Angeles home, after his crowded who's who funeral, Vonetta McGee rushed in apologizing for not attending D'Urville's funeral...that the flight from Switzerland took forever, and then she sat close to me. Telling me about her life since she broke up with Max Julien, after starring with Clint Eastwood in the "Eiger Sanction". It was really cool spending time with you Vonetta McGee--rest well.
