The sun is warm on her face. It feels good, like the way Lising kisses her. The breeze which gives its most subtle brush on her tanned skin is like Lising’s caresses. And the scent that tears her scents of roses and sweet plants in her garden, are scents that Lising brings to the bedroom. It is as if Lising is with her all along even if he is not, even if he is somewhere else.
More and more, she is seeing Lising less and less. She yearns for him but he cannot be with her. Lising is his own man. And no matter how much prodding she employs, it will not matter. Lising will pursue what he wishes. The events of a few weeks ago just put her on shaky ground. She is so insecure about herself. She knows that she had always been faithful to him. She loves him more than she had loved herself or anyone else. And yet, this. Veronica had given much thought to why but perhaps, the circumstances are more complicated than what she allows herself to understand. She is jealous and her jealousy is truly eating her up. Her jealousy has infected her trust for Lising. Subsequently, without trust, relationships sour.
Maybe Lising is trying hard, but she refuses to convince herself that he is. Everything that Lising tries is totally transparent, or worse, invisible to Veronica. There is no way in the world that she had truly given Lising a chance. She is afraid that she is driving Lising away. But on the other hand, Veronica does not know how to get Lising into the fold.
