Were they true , or just stories?

I remember when I was litle girl, a very long time ago. My Dad, as well as my Mom would relate tales to us. Little short snippit stories that my parents would tell us kids at bedtime. I guess we were strange kids, because we liked scary tales at bedtime, or any time, for that matter. Dad would come up with some pretty far out tales sometimes. But you have to remember, he lived as a youth during a time in history before electricity, TV, or telephone. A telephone, for those of you who do not know, was a device, with a cord on it, that plugged into the wall. They were around before the cellphone was ever dreamed of. Anyway, you could actually talk to someone on it, sometimes if you were on a party line you might be talking to someone you didn't want to, but that is another story. The stories my dad told, would have probably been considered bizarre by the youth of today, but definitely campfire worthy. I started relating some of these tales to a couple of teenagers at my shop the other day, and had their full attention. It is so difficult these days to get the youth to read, anything. It has been one of my primary goals, as a writer to try to aim in their direction. I was impressed that they seemed to actually enjoy these stories, as they requested more . So, I put my thinking cap on and came up with an idea for my next mystery. As soon as it is complete, I will let you know. Thanks for our interest, and your time.
