Short fiction story
I sat on the edge of my chair looking straight ahead at the pink fuchsia wall in front of my desk. The heating was turned up so high that I felt like I was sitting in a sauna rather than an office suite on the twenty-fifth floor of a high-rise building in the CBD. My boss decked out the entire office in neon colours, after reading up on Feng Shui and finding out that certain hues are said to create some kind of utopian working environment, where happy, smiling employees work together and laugh together. So she figured an office which looks like it was attacked by a six-year-old with a box of highlighters would have the opposite effect and bring into being some sort of frenzied, hysterical, sweaty state of affairs, where we would all fight to the death to get our well-earned Jimmy Choo’s up onto the next step of the corporate ladder. The scariest part is, it worked.
