Bob Boger owned the corner rowhouse on my block. I learned a lot from him over the course of our lives, beginning with the admonition, "Stay off my grass!" As the years passed, the subjects of our dealings became more complex.

Years earlier, the Boger & Crawford textile company sponsored a church CYO baseball team. In one not-to-be-forgotten game, Babe Ruth played first base for the parish team.
