Excerpt from Chapter 2 of my book: Whatever! A Baby Boomer's Journey Into Middle Age.....
I honestly believed I would be living out the rest of my life in a perfect marriage with the man of my dreams. Unfortunately, that dream turned into a horrific nightmare! I'll spare you the gory details, but I will say this: Ladies, be careful what you pray for in your desperation to get married. Remember, you can do bad all by yourself!
Obviously my idea of dating is alot different now as a woman pushing fifty compared to what it was when I was in my twenties. Back in the day I tried to keep my social calendar filled. I had no problem going out with different guys, sometimes more than one in a night, and partying until the break of dawn.
Although variety was the spice of my life I had to have the right kind of man for the occasion. He had to be respectfully employed and make more money than me. Yes, I knew some very handsome drug dealers who were rolling in the big bucks and other charming men of ill-repute who had deep pockets but as a broadcast journalist, I didn't want to be put in a position to have to report about them on the news.
My guy had to be able to carry on an intelligent conversation, rock my world in the bedroom, enjoy working out and appreciate my knowledge of sports. Because my job required me to make numerous public apprearances, I had to insist on being in the company of someone who could make me look even better.
