Robert and Sally were having dinner at Gene and Becky’s house one night. Gene was telling Robert about his friend Gary who was soon to arrive.
“Gary reminds me so much of you, Robert,” said Gene, “don’t you think so, honey?”
“My, yes,” replied Becky. “Very much so. It’s uncanny.”
Robert just smiled.
“He looks exactly like you,” said Gene, “but there is much more than that. He talks like you and has the same mannerisms.”
“Yes,” replied Robert, squirming in his seat. “That happens sometimes, people looking and talking similarly.”
“Well, then we got to know Gary,” said Becky, “and we were amazed to find out he has the same interests as you too.”
Robert was getting increasingly uncomfortable.
“Yeah,” said Gene. “You guys like the same music, the same movies, and you have the same personality. You even have the same philosophy on life. It’s like looking into a mirror.”
“Well,” said Robert. “I’m sure it’s not like looking into a mirror.”
“I don’t know. I’d have problems telling you two apart,” said Becky.
Robert, now irritated, took a swig of wine. Gary showed up a few minutes later. They met and Gary joined them at the table. As they commenced with the dinner, Gene leaned over to Robert.
"You and Gary are wearing the same shirt,” he whispered, as Robert dropped his fork.
“Hey, Gene,” said Robert, “why don’t you f*ck off?”
Gene frowned.
“Well,” replied Gene. “Gary is certainly not a prick like you are.”
“Well, thank God for that,” said Robert.
