Chevelle’s Quest for Omega
By Amber “V” Moonstone
Chevelle was cruising in her ’63 T-Bird, driving along Interstate 84 heading for Southington. It was the town where her grandparents lived. She knew time was slipping by and her Grandfather, Nunu was fading away. He had cancer, and it was her turn to bring her grandmother, Nana to see him. He was like a father to her. He was the stereo typical Italian grandfather. Smoked cigarettes and played pinnacle every Tuesday night with the boys. Her Nana always cooked sausage and peppers and made her special “gravy” sauce for them.
Her Grandparents just celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary. They got married again to reaffirm their vows to each other. They were the exception to all rules; they actually still cared and loved each other after all those years.
As Chevelle and her Nana drove back from the hospital, Chevelle decided to pull over on the side of the road to let the top down. The two women rode as if they were riding wild Mustangs through the open fields of Montana. It was a fantastic drive along the deserted road. Chevelle looked at her grandmother with wonderous eyes of a Skylark and realized what her purpose was to be.
She needed to go on a Quest for Omega!
During the next 800 days she drove her 63’T-bird through out the country searching for Omega. What was it that she was looking for? She was looking for her lost love,
CRV (Carlos Rivera Valeria). She had information that he was last living in the desert near Tucson, Arizona.
The evening air captivated her, as she looked up to the beautiful pattern of Taurus in the sky. It was definitely shaped like a V, marking a bull's head. Life was so peaceful at that moment. She wondered if CRV was ever thinking of her. How she longed for his kisses and beautiful Aura of sea misty greens. He truly had an amazing Aura.
Nightfall ended and Chevelle woke to the heat of the sunrise. She blinked at the intensity of the sunlight. The desert’s temperatures were so drastically different between night and day. Today, I am to find CRV so he can help me on my Quest for Omega.
While traveling over the desert highway, she saw a Cougar running in the distance. It was a magnificent creature of pure muscle and speed. Each leg was steadfast and sure, as he romped across the hot sand. She was fearless because she knew that her trusty ‘63 T-bird could out run him any day!
Arriving at her destination, she wiped the sweat from her brow. She managed to freshen up in the bathroom of the local all night diner.
Chevelle was enjoying a root beer float when she sensed his presence. Looking in the mirror she could see CRV standing right behind her. He touched her shoulder and exclaimed,
“Hey, I know you! What the heck are you doing all the way out here?”
He twirled her around on her swivel seat and planted the wettest kiss on her lips.
“Well I can see you aren’t shy at all, how the heck are you CRV?”, Chevelle yelled over the juke box playing “Going to the Chapel”.
CRV was laughing so hard he almost fell on the floor. “Me shy? Now Miss Chevelle, when have you ever known me to be shy, especially where you were concerned. Get up and give me a hug you beautiful thing, you.”
Chevelle stood and he just about broke her back with the biggest bear hug she had ever gotten. Even her Nunu didn’t hug that hard.
She could smell his cologne, Aqua Velva, just like her Nunu wore.
She began to cry and he asked her why she was crying. Chevelle told him that she had just lost her grandfather a few months back.
He walked her over to a booth and ordered them some fries and cokes.
“So, Chevelle, what are you really doing all the way out here?”
“Well, CRV, I will be honest with you. I was looking for you. I need help on my quest for Omega. Can you come with me? Are you free to ride with me in my T-bird and find Omega?”
“Chevelle, I would go to the end of the earth for you, but Omega? Are you serious? That is nearly impossible. What are you trying to do? Get yourself killed or something? It is very dangerous to be doing this. What has happened? Why do you need to pursue this?”
Chevelle looked at him, and he really did look very worried and concerned. She touched his forehead, softly kissed his lips and said, “CRV, you have known me my whole life, now do you really think I would do something dangerous if it wasn’t important to me?”
“Okay, girl, I get you, I just hope we don’t die in the process. Do you really think I am going to let you walk out of my life again? No way, so yes, I am in! When do we leave?
Can I ask you to come to my house for one night before we go on this Quest for Omega?”
They left the diner and went to CRV’s house for the night. His house was set into a mountain called “Mount Lemon”. Who names a mountain, Mount Lemon? He built this house to resemble an old fashioned Indian Dwelling. It was really well made and built to keep withstand the drastic temperature changes.
Morning crept in and Chevelle took her blanket and walked outside to watch the sun rise, once again, in the Arizona sky. No words can describe what beauty this site is to behold. It was as if Ions had scattered in the sky to balance each ray that brightly captured the morning sunshine.
CRV came up behind Chevelle, and said, “Now, my pretty lady, you see why I live here, this is what greets me every morning. So breathtakingly beautiful it makes you want to cry with happiness.”
Chevelle, started to weep, and CRV hugged her until she stopped.
As she turned to go back inside, CRV kissed her tenderly on the lips.
“Chevelle, I have loved you my whole life. I have never stopped wondering where you were, what you were doing, and now that you are here, I don’t want to ever let you go again.”
Chevelle pulled away from CRV, and touched his cheek with her hand,
“CRV, so many events have happened in my life, too many to even explain, but you, my first love, have always had a special piece of my heart. I knew seeing you would be a double edged sword. I would be so happy to see you again, but knew I would be so sad when I had to leave you again.”
“My Quest for Omega, out weighs any love affair. I am on a mission and I will not falter from that dedication and fulfillment of my quest. I hope that you can understand this, but
If you cannot I will not think badly of you.”
“Oh Chevelle, I know you better than life itself! I know that when you have your heart and soul into something, all else best move aside. I am willing to step aside for your mission, if that is what you desire, but know one thing, I will fight for you to be in my life, this time. I am no longer a scared teenager controlled by his family. I am a grown man that thinks clearly, and independently. I will do anything to help you. You do know this, don’t you?”
“Yes, CRV, I do know that. So what do you say we have some breakfast?” Chevelle ran back into the house and headed toward the kitchen. CRV ran behind her as if running after a puppy.
The next week was spent doing research on Omega, and planning their next moves.
It was time to leave CRV’s beautiful home in the mountains. Chevelle, looked back at the sight of his life’s work, and felt very proud to know such a beautiful man.
During the next four weeks, they traveled toward the West Coast. Stopping in all the small towns, and exploring the mountains, deserts and flatlands.
Upon arriving in Santa Monica, they felt the rush of the Pacific ocean breeze.
They both stripped down to their underclothes and ran into the ocean. First to be cleansed from their long journey, and secondly to let the water wash away all their worries and restore positive energy and harmony.
Feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, they both laid out under the hot California sun.
Chevelle was the first one to wake up. She watched CRV sleep so soundly as if he were back home in his bed in the mountains.
“CRV, you need to wake up, you are getting burnt from this sun”.
As he heard her words, he rolled on his side to face her. “Chevelle, you are so sweet, thank you for caring about me. Come here, let me hold you for a moment. Let me feel the warmth of your sunshine”!
At that very moment, Chevelle knew that “Her Quest for Omega was ended.
CRV was her Omega!”
