WHAT IF.....
What if there were such a man
who walked this earth two thousand years ago
who came in peace --into this sinful world of ours--to teach us love.
He was gentle, he was kind
he spoke of love and not war
what if there were such a man
who meant no harm
who walked without sin and taught by example
that even though he knew he was the son of God
he still was humble enough to wash another's feet
what if there were such a man
who loved you enough
to trade his life so you could have yours
that you may live
that you may choose
choose to still stay in sin...
wouldn't you admire such a person
want to know him
and love him, and love him, and fall in love with him
why are our hearts so easily taken by the hunk in that romantic movie
and not by this one
the one whose stories never cease to end
"I will never leave you"
"I will lay down my life for you"
Words that have never changed
what if there really were such a man
wouldn't you want him in your life
wouldn't you be envious enough to want to make him yours
wouldn't you love him and love him and fall in love with him
...but there was such a man
I don't know about you but why would 11 grown and sane men risk their lives and those of their families, undergo enormous torture to keep a lie alife?
Why didn't even one of them cave in?
What if there were such a man who could not only die for you but bring himself back to life after death
Yes, I believe!
There was and still is such a man
No story has ever been this retold
No lie can last this long and I can't help but love him and love him and fall in love with him
He is my everything, my truth, my life
The one thing I'm sure of
and as for me,
I do believe!

You have such a way with words... stating exactly what is in my...oops, I mean YOUR heart.
Your testimony of our Lord shines so beautifully and strongly through these wonderful lines.
And... Charlie's review had me in tears... between the both of you, you have spoken my heart.

Formatting is good on my screen-- must have been fixed. Beautiful write. Somehow Christian writes are generally sappy, and I'm always transfixed when they're not. I appreciate that. So hard to write about such deeply personal things without sounding somehow plastic, but you did a good job.
Schitzophrenic me: I have three hearts. The heart that belongs to my family, the one that in its entirety loves them back... The heart that loves this language-- this gift of being absorbed in it, the one that gives back to it through poetry-- the heart that loves this Lord of mine, the one that He loves back-- loves the whole of it. And it feels like there's no room for more, but somehow, that last heart engulfs them all and makes them one... --Charlie |

This is awesome. Only problem is that somehow parts of it, starting with the WHAT IF... are wrapped around advertising and not all one piece. I don't know how that happened but you may want to write to customer support.
This IS a most amazing write Bernice. I would love to forward it to others, but sure would like the layout fixed before i do. I didn't see the first several lines until i read the rest, then scrolled back to the top. |
