My Mood Ring is Flashing Like a Neon Sign

Its about me. Its about you. Its about the human race too.
My head feels tight. Here it comes. Its the same old story. Here comes my schizophrenic, psycho-babbling, literary rantings. Its the same old song and dance. But I have to do it. I have to dance across this keyboard. I have to sing this melancholy song in the form of writing. Its my therapy.
Who is in full control of their emotions? Let me see some hands. Anybody? Who can call forth happiness at will? Can you instantly make yourself angry? Can anyone feel contentment just by desiring it. Whom among us is a master that can call forth a desired mood?
I was in a bad mood, yesterday, when I picked up a roll of pictures I just had developed. Most of the film was of someone I was mad at. So I threw away the photographs and kept the negatives. This is how I viewed the person, in a negative way.
Positive emotions are so much better. They feel so good. I positively believe they contribute to a meaningful life. Isn't feeling good what its all about? Run away from pain. Run towards pleasure. We're all in pursuit of happiness; that revered emotion that seems to be so fleeting.
If somebody can make you unhappy, are you in control of your happiness, or is that person? Hang her picture on the wall because she makes you happy. Burn his photo in the hall because he made you angry. Who is in control here?
The path to happiness is crowded with fools. They're frantically looking for joy and don't even realize they're on the wrong road. They're searching for shortcuts and can't undestand that its not even "out there." Happiness is an inside job.
Materialism. Now there's a fools parade if there ever was one. Its more like a maze. People are lost in it. "Things" might add icing to the cake of happiness, but if you're searching for the icing, as if its the cake, then you'll always be hungry. And when you find what you think you're looking for, you won't have anything to put it on. It'll melt in your hands and you'll continue wandering within the maze.
Let me give you some advice from the fortune cookie of a madman. Emotions can be controlled. That's the first thing you have to believe. Next, you have to find the control room. Then you must learn how to work the controls.
If this is a matter that concerns you, then come back later and I'll tell you a secret.

Exceptional rhetorical write, Joe. A message that should be read by everyone. This is the most powerful of all: "The path to happiness is crowded with fools. They're frantically looking for joy and don't even realize they're on the wrong road. They're searching for shortcuts and can't undestand that its not even "out there." Happiness is an inside job."
Good to read your work. I'll stop back for the secret. ;)

| Apparently I am blocked from posting anything because I have not payed twentyfive pesos. But I can't even do that. Every time I click on the "AuthorsDen Author Membership" to pay up, a screen appears saying that "website is not responding." Oh well. |
