Jenna Aurora Doucet updates us on what is going on with her life.
Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 ("Ground Hog Day"), Anchorage, Alaska, 8:11 a.m.~
Dear Journal~
Jenna Aurora Doucet here.
Sorry for not writing; you know how it is with two small kids! Don't have much free time; they keep me hopping!
Hard to believe, but our youngest one (Kenai Remington) is now nearly three months old! He's eating like a pig, gaining needed weight. He's turning into a LUMP! LOL As for Mattaq, he is into everything, everything fascinates him. We've had to babyproof the house; we don't need our second child getting into trouble!
Life with two babies is never dull, let me tell you! Add our husky "Aurora" to the mix, as well as a big kid (aka Michael); sometimes he acts worse than the boys! LOL Life for him is nothing but fun, fun, FUN!!
Oh, he works hard when he's at work; at home, however, he just wants to kick back, relax, play with the kids, or try to get ME into a snowball fight (I always lose!). The last time he got me involved in a snowball fight he hit me right in the MOUTH--with an ICE ball. OUCH. I got so mad at him, I whacked him one right in the ass--with my STICK!! LOL
He ought to know better than that!!
The weather here is brutally cold--that's nothing new for Alaska. We've had a terribly cold winter here; even I am complaining about the cold--and I am part INUIT!! NOT good! LOL I haven't been out all that much; when I DO get out it isn't long before I'm begging to go back inside, where it's warm! LOL
I heard from Louie Sandusky, my friend in the Lower 48--life for her still busy (as always; nothing new there!). She has been working lots of extra hours at the hospital (nursing shortage), and when home, she is taking care of kids.
They now have sixty three kids, including twin newborns who are just over two months old; they are a little younger than my newborn, by a few weeks. Louie sent me pictures of Ian and Isaiah; they are too cute! They look just like their mama; however they are probably going to take after their daddy: they are going to be very tall; they are awfully long now in length!
Johnny's muscular dystrophy has worsened to where he needs a trache tube in order to breathe; he's doing great now but for a while he wasn't. Ronee' had surgery on her hands; she's doing great too; both are recovering beautifully, much to everyone's delight. Was happy to hear that; I worry about those two as though they were my kids! LOL I love them both so much!!
The other kids are doing great too: Emir is talking up a storm, walking with his prosthetic legs, using his prosthetic arms like nothing. Vincente, who was once their foster child, is now a permanent family member; they adopted him. He's very happy with his new family; they say he's a really sweet boy with a good heart. Bjorn, their little blind/deaf child, is settling down, signing like mad, discovering how to get around without sight. He's no longer the scared, wild child he once was.
Vijay is learning English at an incredibly fast rate; there's signs he may be gifted; he's already reading upper grade level books--and he isn't even six-and-a-half yet. Opal Lee and Emma are both taking dance and cheerleading lessons and are enjoying it very much. Both have proven to be extremely talented gymnasts/dancers/cheerleaders.
Gemini continues to win awards in her gymnastic competitions (just last weekend she won a gold medal for a state competition; she is now poised to go to a national competition later this year in Georgia), and Barbara is enjoying her basketball season (her high school team is undefeated right now, and just this past week Barbara was voted "Player Of The Week" at her school).
Ronee' is going to try out for "America's Got Talent" again this year; tryouts are in April, and hopefully she'll be chosen to advance. Johnny is thinking of doing more writing; he is thinking of doing his first book, is seeking a publisher to accept his story.
So many exciting things for the Sandusky family; no wonder Louisiana and Bill are so busy!! WOW!!
Besides hearing from Louie, I heard from Sikik Eegeesiak. She is still snowed in, but she now has a boyfriend, Ki'l'iuq Tomaoq (or something like that); she met him at her last doctor's appointment, and they clicked. They've been seeing one another, taking turns at visiting each other's houses, spending time by the fire, making out. LOL (That's what she told ME! LOL)
Her health is still giving her fits; but at least she has a boyfriend now to take her mind off it! Good for her; she deserves to be happy for once!
Well, I am going to go now; light's flashing. The babies are awake; have to tend to them before they tear up the place. When they wake up from their naps they are hyperactive with a capital H!! It's so hard to control them! Take care and God bless; will write in here again soon!
~Love, your Alaska/Inuk friend, Jenna Aurora. :D
