A brave little girl with a physical disability has a very happy, rewarding life.

Hi!!  My name's Sparkle.  Sparkle Diamond.  Sparkle Diamond Anderson.  I am seven years old, and I live in Pocatello, Idaho, with my mommy, daddy, big brothers Calvin Phillip (C.P.) and Errol Harrison (they're eight and ten), and little sister, Tasha ReAundre'a (she's two).  We also have a dog, a pit bull named "Killa", but he's more of a lamb:  he's very gentle; he loves everybody.  The worst he can do is lick 'em to death!  LOL And he does, too!

I am disabled.  I walk with crutches, leg braces.  I was born with spina bifida that left me paralyzed, unable to move my legs.  It's hard sometimes, especially if I have to go to the hospital for yet another surgery, but in between that, I am a very active, happy little girl who loves to do many things.

Some of my favorite things to do include riding my bike (yeah, I said bike; I have a special bike that I can pedal with my hands), dancing, drawing, writing stories or poems, reading, watching tv (I like the Christian channel best; love all that church music!!), and my favorite activity, SINGING!!  I have a very pretty singing voice (or so people have told me); they say I sing like an angel!

I sing in the children's praise/worship team at church every Sunday, and it's a blast!!  I love singing for my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!

When I get big, I'd love to be a gospel singer like Shirley Caeser, or perhaps Patty LaBelle.  They are very good at what they do, and when they sing, people listen!!  They are anointed; whenever I hear them sing, I get goosebumps on top of my goosebumps!!  They're gooooooooooooood!!

I sometimes get sad that I can't get around as easily as my brothers, sister, or other kids, but I try not to let it bother me.  God made me like this for a reason, and maybe He made me like this to help other kids who are disabled.  I always try to be nice to other kids, and when I help them, it always makes me feel good.

My best friends are Gabbie Houston, ReeRee Gibbons, and Eboni Travers; my teacher is Ms. Dearborn.  I am in the second grade at Pocatello Elementary, and I do very well in my school; my family is very proud of me.  I am very proud of me, too; I want to do good, so I study, work really hard at my schoolwork.

Well, I gotta go; time for music, then lunch.  Then recess.  The best part of the day!!  And then tomorrow and Sunday I can play, play, play!!  WHEE!!  Oh, I love being a little kid!!

Bye for now!  I will write in here again!! See ya!!

~Love, your new friend, Sparkle Diamond Anderson, age 7.

I am a sucker for little girls with gun powder in their veins!
As a grandpa, I enjoys their smiles and try not to think very much in their disablity that doesn't impede them to laugh...

Hi Karen:

This is great!!! Sometimes disability is a only in the eyes of another. Ihe little person in the frame of the body is quite capable despite a little inconvenience; and who's to say that disable people are not happy people? This is wonderful write!!!

Karen... I'm still confused about your postings.... Do you write the stories for these wonderful people? I was under the impression that they write their story, and you simply post it....perhaps that is why I've not been able to "keep up" with all the different characters...so when I think "you've" posted something of yours that is when I review... Do I have it wrong? The stories are wonderful tho. lindalaw
