Walk Me to Midnight

The perfect crime. No prints, no CSI, no trace. Dr. Death is about helping people commit suicide, isn't he? What if someone doesn't buy it?..

A woman reaches out to those who are hurting.

Image of yours truly (c) 2009, by Karla Dorman.

If anybody needs somebody to talk to, I'm the one.

If somebody needs somebody to lift, encourage, or pray for them, I'm the one.

I have often wondered in the past what my purpose here on Earth was, but then about a year ago, God gave me a vision, a vision of helping others in their time of need.  I acted on that vision and I haven't looked back.  I have been blessed with an incredibly compassionate heart and a giving spirit and God has blessed me inmeasurably.

My name is Helen Dawkins.  I live in Portland, Oregon, with my aging father who is a Veteran of World War II (I take care of him), my husband, and my two kids, both daughters, ages 10 and 15.  Their names are Schuyler Grace and Sienna Faith.  I was working but quit in order to spend more time with my father who has serious health problems and with my girls.  I love my life.

Then you add my service in working for the Lord.  I am a very active member of my church (Church of Christ) and love praying for or encouraging others.  This, in kind, lifts up my own spirits when I am having a bad day with Daddy or the kids and then I feel I can face anything that life may throw my way.  God somehow always manages to comfort me whenever I need it the most.

I have started a prayer group at my church.  Myself and five other ladies get together every Saturday; we go out to eat for a few hours where we have breakfast and prayer time, as well as time in the Word.  We pray for struggling, sick, or disenheartened members of our community and we also pray for one another's needs.  We always leave these prayer meetings with lighter hearts and praise upon our lips.  We all know God has heard our prayers and we are trusting in Him completely to help us through any of life's storms.

I regularly connect with other believers on Facebook, through several prayer groups.  I pray for those people too, and I pray that God gives them a sense of peace, hope, and comfort during their trials.  I don't know what I would do if I didn't have the Internet; it's my window to the world when I am stuck at home with my father, or when he is in the hospital.

Well, I hate to run, but I have to meet Ethel, Carole, Deana, Dori, and Carmela at Golden Corral in fifteen minutes; I'm running a bit late.  I will check on my Daddy, then head out the door.  Until later, take care and may God bless you above and beyond; this is Helen Dawkins signing off!

~Helen.  :)

I'm not a religious person, but I do know, because I've met two, I do know that there are people that one can talk to that can, in a sense, relieve some of ones problems... As always, myfriend in Texas, a very good story.

Some are "angels among us." Coincidentally, I posted a thought on Facebook this morning about my "guardian angel." Merci, Karen. Amour et paix, ton ami de la C-B, Canada,
