Howdy from the hell hole known as Texas in the summertime!
This is your friend, Shifty Osgood, writing. I hope this finds you well. As for me, things remain about the same: people treatin' me like a dog 'cause I don't have a place to stay. There are some kindhearted, generous people around, but more often than not, most ignore me or run me off.
It is very discouraging.
Is there any harm in asking for a place to go to, in order to get out of the brutal sun so a guy doesn't cook (or die)? Is there any harm in asking for a drink of water to soothe my raw, parched throat? Is there any harm in trying to find someplace cool, so I don't die of the heatstroke?? I should say not!
I am still trying to find gainful employment, but it's the same ol' thing: ya gotta have proof of a place of residence in order to get a job; they don't want anyone that's homeless. Very frustrating! Then poeple wonder why I am so depressed.
Doesn't help that the VA keeps givin' me the runaround, sendin' me from one doctor to the next; yet they don't give me any clear cut answers as to how to help me or alleviate the pain I'm in 24/7! And half the doctors are foreigners anyway; a lot of 'em don't even speak English (or the kind I speak, anyway ...)!
I have been going to a missions church here not far from where I'm staying, but it's like God, Himself, ain't listening to me either. It's like He's got His big, fat fingers stuffed into His ears! UGH!! I am trying to trust in Him, to provide for all my needs, but when life treats me like this, it's. Just. So. HARD!!!!
Just keep me in your prayers; I could really use several big miracles! Thanks!
~Shifty. :(
