Capricia Danielle is my name. I am 12 years old.
I was adopted when I was two; I have been a member of the Jones family now for ten years. They're really the only family I have ever known.
I really have no trouble with the fact that I am adopted. See, when I was born, my birth mom was strung out on drugs, so they had no choice but to get me out of that situation and put me with a family that would love and take care of me. I had some issues because of being born to a drug-addicted mother, but most have been resolved. I do have some learning disabilities and am smalller than most kids my age, but other than that, I'm okay, healthwise.
I thank God for that, each and every day.
I have an amazing family. My dad, Dexter, is a pastor at an Assembly of God church here in Oakdale, California, where I live with my family; he's been a pastor for over 6 years now. My mom, Darlena, is a homemaker/homeschool teacher. My two brothers, Wilson and Warren, are twins (they're 10) and are football crazy. They both play football on the school's "pee wee" football team and are very good at it, too.
As for my sisters, I have four: Teal (15), Opal Grace (13), Felisha (8), and Schuyler Joy (3). Schuyler Joy is a special child: she was born with severe cerebral palsy; she cannot walk or talk and is in a wheelchair, but she is the sweetest, most loving child you would ever want to meet. One cannot be too sad around her because she is always smiling or laughing, and she gets people to thinking that if she can be happy, then so can other people.
We have a long-haired dark grey and white kitty named "Sunshine"; she is a Maine Coon/Ragdoll mix. She has bright sapphire-blue eyes and the softest fur. She is also very floppy and loving in nature: she purrs practically nonstop! We just love her to pieces!
My parents, brothers, and three of my sisters (as well as myself) are African American, but Schuyler is Chinese. She was born in China; Mom and Daddy adopted her two years ago, and she is the cutest thing! I just adore her so much!! I love helping Mom and Daddy with taking care of her and she is so easy to love!
Some kids have issues with being adopted, but I really don't. It's good to know that I am with a family that loves me no matter what I am or who I am, and it's good to know that they treat me as if I had been BORN to them. I'm just glad that I am no longer in the drug situation, but I can't help thinking about my birth mom: that is, if she stopped taking drugs, if she is still alive, or if she IS, if she even thinks about me or misses me.
I sometimes get sad whenever I thinik of my real mom, but then I'm glad to be with the Jones family because they've given me a very good life! I wish all kids could have a family like mine; the world could use more families like mine!
