As a rule you don’t walk backwards, drive backwards or write backwards because it doesn’t make sense. You could get hurt and its just plain stupid. The same applies when you move backwards in a relationship. Take the good with the bad and keep it moving. Those who look back generally go back to whatever drama they left and worst.

I hoped that Nafeece didn’t feel that way about me. If you ask him he would say that could never be the case because he was always with me even when he was gone. I was really sorry for any changes that I took him through. I was going to be a good wife to him. I was not bringing any baggage from my past with Jamal.
We started planning our wedding. I wanted a small wedding. Word quickly spread through the media about us. Before I knew it there were nearly 600 people on the guest list and it was still growing. We agreed to cut it off at 700. Omar didn’t know where I’d moved too. He was very jealous of Nafeece. He would call me just to tell me that he hated me and Nafeece. I would ask him why he was calling. After a while the name calling began. I changed my number twice and he still got it. When he couldn’t get me he would send hate mail to Nafeece’s office. I don’t know how or why he became so obsessed with me or us.

Nafeece and I needed a break from it all. We took the kids to my Aunt Kayla’s house. They were going to stay for a week so that we could go on vacation. My Aunt was so happy to see me and the kids. She said that she wished I would bring them more often. I planned to since I moved back to the city. I was almost at my car when she called me back in to show me her new computer. She had taken some computer classes at some community center. “I am computer literate now. I wrote on your FaceBook wall, she said.” “ I laughed and said what did you write? "“Nothing much, I just said have fun in the Bahamas and I your flight leaves at 4 don’t be leaving for the airport at 3:30.” I was amazed by how well she knew me. I was always running late. I remember everything about that day just like it was yesterday. I went to Platuim Sheers to get my hair done. Tasha was one of the few stylist in the area that could do a fusion weave. I loved it because you could part it different ways. Everybody wondered if my hair was real but they never asked. I would heave kept it real if they did, it's not like I'm bald headed. I could just do more with a weave without damaging my real hair. My hair was always perfect that’s what $800 will buy you. I always felt like a ghetto superstar when I went there because I could afford it & they knew I was Nafeece’s fiancé long before the media did. Nafeece went to get his hair cut somewhere in Germantown. We were supposed to meet at the airport. We both loved to go on vacation. I went home to get my luggage and call a cab. I hated to park at the airport. I hate crowds and crowded places period. Mostly in part due to the fact that I have no patience. I noticed that Nafeece’s suitcase will still at my house. I knew that he didn’t come back from getting his hair cut yet. I called him to remind him that our flight left at 4. It was already 2:30. His phone went straight to voicemail. That was unusual for him. I doubted that the battery was dead. I thought that maybe someone else was calling him at the same time. I just left him a message reminding him of our departure time. Maybe he was running late which would be just as odd. I hoped that the cab wouldn’t take too long. I only lived 15 minutes from the airport but I was worried that they would take too long. Aunt Kayla knew that I would push it to the last minute. I should have reserved one. I went to the airport and waited in the US Airways area for him. He didn’t show up and had not called when the plane was boarding. He was looking forward to this trip. Nafeece was very anal about the time. He was never late. I was worried. Did he lose his phone? Was he okay? Did he forget what time the flight left? I remember calling him over and over as I waited at the airport for another hour before finally leaving. I knew that something wasn’t right. I thought that he got into an accident or something. I called my Aunt Kayla. She said that she hadn’t heard anything from him. When I got home there were two policemen on my porch. I had a sick feeling in my stomach as I paid the cab driver. My heart raced as I walked in their direction.

Such a tease but its ok cause it only heightens my anticipation for the book! I know it won't be long now & I can't wait. Your poems & short stories offers a realist view of the situations we all find our selfs in. I find your work to be inspirational & hope you will continue to write from your heart.
