Entertain yourself with my "Banana Puddin" story while waiting on this favorite to cook. Can you relate to this childhood experience?
I have several stories about my banana puddin.' This is my favorite.
When I was a kid, my mother would always make banana pudding for me instead of a cake for my birthday. She would make it in a metal "dish pan" and pour meringue on top. One year on about my eighth or ninth birthday, my brother and I couldn't wait to dig in. We would take a fork and lift up the meringue and pull out banana slices and cookies. After doing this for the better part of the day, it started to sink in the spots we had robbed. Of course, she could tell what we had been doing, so to teach us a lesson she gave us both a spoon and sat the "dish pan" on the table and told us to eat until it was all gone. Of course we couldn't finish it, but I think she thought it would make us sick and we wouldn't sneak around again eating smething that was supposed to be saved for the meal. It didn't work and we both still love "banana puddin."
