  Joanne Blundell Marsh's Success Story
I have always joked about writing a book. Never did I envision this joke becoming a reality. As a high school student, writing was one of my favorite things to do. Over the years I have written little poems and tidbits. My life didn't take this course however. I chose to be a Cosmetologist. For nearly eleven years this was my career. Being able to make others look and feel good about themselves was indeed a great pleasure. There is something about helping others that makes me feel fulfilled.

My career halted in 1998 when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. All of a sudden my days held very little purpose. Wondering how to make sense of what was taking place, I began to read. I was interesting in how other people with similar afflictions were able to cope. As I read one particular book, I felt a need to write my own story. If for nothing else than to see my feelings on paper, forcing me to deal with my condition. I began "A Child of The King." Six weeks later I had completed the first draft. What did I want to see happen from there? I wasn't sure. I had never intended to write a book for publication but it seemed that all of this hard work should be recognized. Sharing it with my high school teacher, he was impressed and encouraged me to seek a publisher. I followed his advice.

December 2002, "A Child of The King" was release by PublishAmerica. It is still very hard to believe. Just last week I was informed that they were willing to publish my second book "Coffee Sweeteners." I feel I'm such a blessed person.

My success in writing gives me a sense of self-worth again after an enormous change in my life. Back in 1998 when I was diagnosed with MS, this certainly was not on my mind. I am so glad however that the time arose when I accepted the challenge. I owe so many people thanks for their support and encouragement throughout this new adventure. The One who deserves most of the credit however is my Heavenly Father. It is He who deserves the glory and praise. Without His inspiration and intervention, "A Child of The King" could have never been.

This is my story. Nothing great or astonishing but for me a great accomplishment. I encourage anyone who has a dream to embrace it and see it through. The rewards are awesome!
