I was never very thin, but during my pregnancy I started gaining weight and I got gestational diabetes (GDM). I regained weight after giving birth. I gained even more during breastfeeding. I had a huge appetite and I was still gaining weight, getting fat, as never before. It caused me a lot of health problems; I have been diagnosed first with a pre-diabetic condition (Syndrome X) and later, I've been diagnosed with diabetes type 2, high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels.
I've been told to change my lifestyle.
I had to study how to control glucose levels, how to manage sugar levels, how I can lower my bad cholesterol and how to keep it down. I was advised to diet and exercise. I tried herbal weight loss diet, herbalife, pills for reducing appetite, pills to boost metabolism AKA Fat Burners, supplements.
The Atkins diet did not work for me – I was gaining muscle mass and it increased my weight. The low-carb diet made me hungry all the time and the low calories diet drove me crazy, counting every calorie. I was tired all the time, low energy kept me down and I was avoiding exercises, even walking and easy exercises programs.
Finally, I realized that if a person doesn't really want changes in their lives, then nothing would work.
