Volume 1 of Exploring the Bible: Essays, Worksheets, and Resources by Joan Koelle Snipes is a 44-page booklet. It is a compilation of essays and worksheets written from 2001 through 2003. It includes information on: the daughters of Zelophehad, imagery in the Psalms, tear bottles, Egypt and the Bible, and a comparison of Elisha and Christ Jesus.
Among the resources are some that will be especially helpful to those who teach the Bible to children. There are eight Bible Study Worksheets, information on teaching Bible geography, and a cookie recipe for Esther's Bracelets.
Because there are so many books about the Bible available, Joan has included a number of book reviews to help readers decide which might be of most interest to them. These include an annotated list of recommended Bible story books for children, as well as the following:
Lynne Bundesen's books,
Frank C. Darling's The Apostle Paul and Christian Healing,
Anita Diamant's The Red Tent,
Gustave Dore's Bible illustrations,
Bruce Feiler's Abraham: A Journey to the Heart of Three Faiths,
Abraham Heschel's The Prophets,
Werner Keller's The Bible as History in Pictures,
Moshe Pearlman's books,
David Roberts's lithographs, and
Berenice Shotwell's Getting Better Acquainted with Your Bible.
