How To Get Along With God is a spiritually practical approach to nurturing a relationship with God by using biblical examples related to modern issues. The book explores the sovereignty of God and how the power of the Holy Spirit influences our decisions when we have a right relationship with Jesus. It compares biblical accounts of challenging issues with those of contemporary living. The book demonstrates that we still serve the same God that commanded our biblical progenitors. The book provides the reader an opportunity to see how God responded to Old and New Testament characters and that His words are immutable and unchanging. The same biblical truths that existed for many thousands of years and guided early Christians still exists today. The inescapable conclusion is that we are admonished to follow Gods word today with the same zeal as our Bible examples. It is the only true way in which we may get along with God.

The Christian faith answers several important question. What is the meaning of life, and what is the purpose of our existence? If we are to believe that there is not a God who created us in love, then we are left to imagine that life has no meaning. Without meaning to life, there is no real requirement for morality. The Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky once said “without God all things are permissible”. In the absence of morality, how is it possible to have a universal sense of rightness and wrongness? Rodney King said “Can’t we all just get along?”. Well, actually the answer is “No!”. Certainly not on our own merit, anyway. God is the only one capable of turning our chaos into order. The philosopher Immanuel Kant observed “Two things fill the mind with ever increasing wonder and awe; the starry heavens above me and the moral law within me.”Some people believe that we are floating around space on a large blue marble with no particular place to go. Why we exist is much more important than how we exist, yet some confuse the “whys” with the “hows”. The fact that we do exist speaks to the truth that our existence is predicated on a purpose. Christians believe that their purpose is defined by the words in the Bible. This an extremely sensible conclusion. How often do people live their entire lives without seeking their purpose from God? My wife and I were talking one day about this subject and she observed, “all dead atheists believe in God”. Death is the worst time to discover that God really exists. It is therefore important to discover our purpose, and to live out that purpose, before we die. It is the only way that we will ever “get along with God” in the hereafter.
