Creative Culinary Arts Book
What an entertaining, diverse cookbook. Created with the contributions of authors from Indie Writers Unite, DINE WITH US kept me reading from beginning to end, when I had set out to simply skim. I enjoyed the teasers of all the upcoming works, as well as the bios of the authors participating. I did just skim most of the recipes but still developed major cravings, partly due to the photo accompanying each recipe. Don't know if I can pull off the zombie-inspired "Caaaaake!" (I ZOMBIE), but I'd be willing to risk my brains trying. Still, I think I'll start off on the simpler side, with "Vales-So-Easy-A-Lazy-Witch-Can-Do-It Tomato Soup," (THE TEMPLE) and "PJ Jones Cilantro Salsa." (I like the option of canned tomatoes when tasty fresh are still unavailable.) Of course, special fun is provided by those characters who personally present their own recipes, such as High Witch Lalura Chantelle (VAMPIRE KING) sharing her secrets for assorted tea sandwiches and the perfect pot of tea. Finally, my shopping list must include a fresh chicken to try "Juliene Grenier's Roasted Chicken Francais Wishbone in!"(WISHBONE) simply because I can't get it out of my mind. Downloading was pretty quick and simple for me, and the book has indexes in front and back for added convenience. The recipes offered can break anyone out of a culinary rut. Hope they taste as good as they sound. I did find some of the recipes a bit long-winded - and/or maybe just too complicated for me, but there are plenty others to make up for those.
Best of all, 50% of the profits from the sales of this book go to UNICEF (The United Nations Children's Fund), which makes it the perfect present for Mother's Day.
Clever and Pleasing
It's so nice to be able to write about a kindle indie cookbook in a positive way. The idea, of having indie writers contribute a recipe, tell a bit about themselves, and link to their books is very clever, and it works! While looking at the recipes I've found several authors I am interested enough in to explore further.
There are a lot of recipes here, the Croatian sauerkraut is one I am going to make today. There is also a hon-dashi jello that sounds super intriguing, I have never seen a recipe like it.
There are pictures of the recipes, the authors, and the book covers they are promoting. I read recipes on my PC kindle App to get the full impact.
The recipes are well laid out, the formatting is good (which is nice, since formatting can be an issue for both cookbooks and regular books and since they are promoting books they would want the formatting to be good), the recipes are well laid out, separated into appetizers, breads, soups salads and sandwiches, main dishes, desserts all with links that work.
Scrumptious
I love this idea! I'm an author myself and a bit of a cook. Combining the two? Brilliant! The recipes are organized and easy to follow. Interspersed are introductions to authors and the books they have written. Kudos in spades!
