A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW
Katherine seems very stressed lately and her seventeen-year-old son, Jeremy, is growing extremely worried over her behavior. He’s noticing that his mom hasn’t been sleeping very well again and she’s definitely smoking a lot more lately too. Knowing his mom has been hospitalized in the past for her Bipolar Disorder, he’s been seeing her more agitated as of late and fears she’s heading for another long hospital stay.
Lately it seems that not only is Kat having disturbing and recurring dreams with a strange little girl in them that she doesn’t know, but also things in her life in general seem to be taking a nosedive. Even though her ex-husband keeps sending her concerning emails because of what Jeremy is telling him, John isn’t helping much and has just added to her downfall by announcing that he’s gotten engaged.
Adding to all Kat’s upheaval, she finds out that her mother has stomach cancer and decides that it’s time to start mending the hurt between them. As if that’s not enough to juggle, Kat meets a guy online through a dating service her girlfriend convinces her to join and all seems good at first with him. That is until Dean starts displaying some dangerous behaviors toward her and she begins to worry that she’s in way too deep.
Can Kat work through all the heartache and turmoil that seems to be surrounding her at this stage in her life? Or does the stress trigger her Bipolar Disorder and land her in the hospital indefinitely? Is she finally able to move on with her life and work toward her happiness and well being?
I really enjoyed this story and from the very beginning I knew Kat was heading for health problems if she didn’t start making some necessary changes quickly. I felt bad for her that she had so many negative things happening around her. There just didn’t seem to be any way for her to deal with any of her problems because they kept bringing her deeper into her abyss. This is definitely an intense story that kept my attention the whole way through. Ms. Cronkhite is a new author to me and I look forward to seeing what other books she may be releasing in the future.
