In 2002 the Chief Officer Alex Hayward of the M/V British Enterprise a DP,Dive and ROV support vessel employed on maintaining the SOSUS submarine detection system in mid-Atlantic.
Alex is intrigued by a wreck near the undersea cable. Alex and his friend Trivet investigate the wreck to discover the ship is part of a wartime mystery. Alex's ship is on charter to the Royal Navy who are upset by their interest in the shipwreck. When Alex refuses to sign the Official Secrets act he is fired and finds himself jobless and on the beach.
With the help of Kate Walker a traumitised nurse from 'Doctors Without Borders' and a recent hostage of the Taliban in Afganistan. Kate is the granddaughter of Commander Jack Walker from 'Churchill The Dilemma." They continue the investigation despite potentially fatal consequences and incur the wrath of the security services.

Alex returned to the boat to find Kate making breakfast or at lkeast trying to.
Kate said, "I turned the valve on the gas cylinder in the deck locker but the stove won't light. It's strange because I can smell the gas."
Alex in sudden dawning horror shouted,"Stop! Dont light the stove, get out on deck Now! He rushed up the ladder behind Kate and quickly turned off the gas valve.
A worried Kate said,"What did I do wrong?"
Nothing, give me a minute." Alex pensively switched the main breaker off cutting power from thr battery bank. Suddenly the bilge gas alarm sounded...
