A rollicking western taking place in 1878 Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Set in 1878 central Texas two ranch hands come upon a stranger sitting at a campfire. They later find out he had drawn them there to save there lives from Comanches. He returns to their ranch with them to find he is known to the owner and some of the other close ranchers by reputation.

He then agrees to  join the owners ranch to guide an early in the year cattle drive from the Texas Hill Country to Wichita, Kansas. He meets a beautiful mexican girl in the nearby town of Mullin and they fall in love. During the cattle drive many local characters are met. they thwart a rustling in Indian Territory with the help of local chickisaw ranchers, endure severe storms and river crossings, deaths and many obstacles along the trail.

After the long drive they return to the Texas hill country even though some of them have to venture to other places before coming home.

Excerpt

The three men rode back down the direction which the fight had come from and saw Digger Donovan and Major Davis standing over Carlos who was sitting up but leaning against a tree. As they dismounted and walked up Pepper looked at his caballero and said with humor. "You will do anything to get out of a little work won't you amigo? How is it?"
