Four individuals in as many locations discover pieces of a conspiracy in progress; they meet, share information, and work together to avert the plot. A small, cunning group, the Apostles, has hatched a plan to penetrate America's government with a secretly-trained cadre. Four individuals who initially don't know each other -- a governor, a foundation executive, a congressional aide and a former corporate whistle-blower -- get wind of separate parts of the plan. In Texas, Wisconsin, New York, Virginia and Washington DC, each gradually learns what the others know. Together the four work frantically against an impending, irreversible deadline. In the process of learning that people they thought they knew aren't who they seemed to be, they also discover unexpected personal attractions, even love.

PATRIOT SCHEMES TAKES THE READER BACK INTO THE POLITICAL INTRIGUE AND SUSPENSE THAT KEPT US TURNING THE PAGES IN NEFF'S FIRST BOOK, HIDDEN IMPACT. THIS TIME THE SETTING SOAKS UP THE SINISTER ELITISM OF OLD STYLE WASHINGTON POLITICIANS, AND TIES IT INTO TODAY'S ALL TOO TRUE REALITIES. FROM THE FIRST PAGE TO THE LAST, THE STORY MOVES QUICKLY, AS EACH CHARACTER WEAVES IN THEIR PIECES OF THE PUZZLE - BUT WHICH CHATACTER, AND WHICH PIECES CAN BE TRUSTED? I LOVED IT, AND AM LOOKING FORWARD TO NEFF'S NEXT WORK.
