ON THE BUS
I get to school by riding the bus
I got on today and sat next to Gus.
He’s a mean little guy
I took a seat and looked him in the eye
Gus doesn’t always tell the truth
If you say anything he’ll knock out your tooth
I crouched over near the window with my feet together
Looking out at the weather
Kids are pointing and looking at me
Because I’m the kid next to Gus you see
I can tell this is not my day
Gus is already sliding closer this way
My heart is pounding as I clench my fist
I know today I’m not taking this
I asked Gus “Can you scoot over?”
He pushes up his shoulder even closer
Gus whispers to me “Can we switch seats?”
Then he said “There is a bug by my feet!!”
I grabbed his jacket
So I could Whack it!
He patted me on the back
Then he said “You helped Gus”
Everyone Cheered
Now he is friends with all of us.
