Conversation In The Crayon Box by Christine D. Patterson

It takes a very special author to capture the hearts and minds of our youngest of audiences; and I think we have found just such an author in Christine D. Patterson.
Her new children’s book Conversation In The Crayon Box was a joy to read, both for myself and my grandson—and what better critic than a three-year-old.

After lights out and all toys are tucked snuggly away for ‘quiet time’ in the toy room, who could imagine what goes on but the happy dreams of youth. The author gives life to a colorful array of characters housed in a box of crayons. Enclosed in such cramped quarters, the varying personalities would invariably pit one against another and disagreements arise as tempers flare. With such an abundance of individualities and traits, there would have to be one that embodied a strong and engaging temperament such as we find in ‘Mr. Gold’.

Using his wits and winning personality, ‘Mr. Gold’ gains the attention of his squabbling peers and earns the respect of all by teaching them that each ‘color’, even though a separate entity in itself, is simply a part or a fraction of the whole. Although each color has a beauty all its own, when they are put together as a team they become a diverse rainbow of light.

Christine Patterson has her hand right on the pulse of what makes children’s books a winning combination of life and fantasy. Christine, please keep the spirit and keep doing what you do best—enlighten our youth.
God bless you.

Very intriguing book for the children to learn colors by, I think this is a great idea. Although belated surely hope this neat book has and will continue to be successful.
