"One touch of nature makes the whole world kind”~William Shakespeare
A walk in September
I took my morning walk today as the sun rose in the eastern sky
The breeze softly caressed my face, a gentle waft. Not even a sigh
I felt the chill of the air on my arms and my face and in my hair
I walked silently along humming to myself without a care
I heard the call of geese as a flock took to the air
I stopped walking and watched as they took to the sky
“Good-by, dear friends,” I breathed with a sigh
“I’ll see you again with the coming of spring”
“When you will return and I’ll once more hear you sing”
I watched as they formed their familiar shape of V
And I listened as they sang their goodbye song to me
Oh the beauty of nature in all her finest array
What a beautiful way for me to start my day
Ahhh, the September air
The sunset comes earlier and the trees gently delight in the breeze
Their leaves slowly are changing the colors that decorate the trees
I find myself captivated by the sky so blue with white clouds flying high
And marvel at the streaks of sunlight that garnish the blue sky
The breeze is a whisper, just barely a wisp so soft on ones face
A most welcome break from the summer’s dog days
It’s the beginning of the equinox, the Indian summer and the summers end
As Mother Nature prepares herself for the long winter she sends
The sky seems clearer and the clouds float high following autumn’s fashion
And we look forward to winter as the Earth changes with passion
We watch the seasons as they come and go, summer, autumn, winter and spring
Each season as it greets us gives us reason to sing
