JT Trumanowski is a six-year old with a BIG problem…his grandparents! How do you survive a whole weekend alone with them when you do exactly what they say and still end up in so much trouble?!

JT adores his grandparents and is thrilled to be invited to spend the weekend with them. He tries hard to follow their requests to a “T” with one disastrously humorous result after another. “Why can’t they just say what they mean?” he wonders. Talk about a failure to communicate! Join JT as he discovers people may mean what they say, they just don’t always say what they mean…clearly.

Excerpt

Call me JT. Please. My whole real name is Jedediah Tobias Trumanowski. I am six years old. I don’t think anyone should have to learn how to spell their whole real name until they are at least twelve. My teacher does not agree.
I have the world’s greatest grandparents. Last weekend they invited me to sleep over. I had lots of fun, but sometimes I don’t understand them. It’s like they have their own secret language or something. They tell me to do things that don’t make sense; then they look at me like I’m crazy because I try to do what they say.
Everything started at breakfast when I sat at the table eating my cereal. Grandma was making her famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and asked me to pass her something. I said “Okay, sure, but what’s alum…alun…alun-in-im-in…?”
“What? Spit it out, boy,” she said. I don’t know why she wanted me to ‘spit it out’, but I did what I was told. She looked really surprised for some reason. She giggled and said ‘spit it out’ means ‘say what you’re trying to say’ - she wanted me to pass her the box of tin foil. Why didn’t she say that in the first place?
