A murderer nurturing a secret vendetta turns Ember Ryan's return home into a nightmare. This ruthless killer has claimed two victims. Will Ember be next? A ghost in the hulking mansion appears to Ember and warns her of evil to come. Confused, Ember turns to Russ Paxton, her childhood sweetheart.
Is Russ who he appears to be, a helpful, caring friend, or is he someone much, much darker?
Excerpt
Old timbers creaked and popped underfoot as Ember moved up the stairs. Stale air enveloped her. Dead air. Dead air laced with chill and dampness. The sound of rain drummed against the roof.
The attic door opened easily. Cool fusty air rushed from the pitch-dark chamber.
A clattering noise sounded behind her. A slash of jagged lightning illuminated the attic. A hoarse scream ripping from her throat, she saw Owen hanging from the ceiling, his dead face whiter than the yachting suit he wore.
As black as the darkest midnight, blood stained the front of his jacket and pooled in the yachting cap at his feet.

Deadly Intent
I just finished Deadly Intent. I truly enjoyed it. You really feel that decadent Louisiana beauty.

Review for Deadly Intent
Ember Ryan is on a mission. A distasteful mission! She is on her way to inform her beloved aunt that the family plantation has been sold.
Heartbroken to find out her aunt has just passed away, Ember vows to find out what truly happened to the woman who raised her from childhood.
Ember's childhood love, Russ Paxton, helps her face each happenstance, even when murder, mayhem, and a ghost's sudden appearance threaten to shake the heroine's already fragile psyche.
Ms. Rich's characters are deep and well-rounded, and the story is told with a straightforward style that doesn't deviate from the path the heroine embarks upon. We are taken on a roller-coaster ride of stirring emotions and vivid decriptions.
A deep and brooking plantation steeped in Louisiana lore, a hero to die for, murder, love, a resident ghost who speaks in riddles, and a well done mystery are what make Deadly Intent by Jonni Rich a story to curl up and read on a rainy day. This story is sure to please.
Highly recommended for those young and young at heart, and those looking for a puzzle that tickles the brain.
