Swansea 1899 on the eve of the turn of the century. Kate has it all. She is eighteen, beautiful and rich and is in love with handsome eligible bachelor Mansel Jenkins. Her life is about to be changed for ever. Kate's imminent marriage to Mansel Jenkins does not suit her tyrannical stepfather Luther Templar who is determined to get his hands on Kate's wealth. With the help of the devious family doctor Luther persuades Mansel that Kate suffers from hereditary madness. When Mansel breaks off their engagement Kate is devastated. Luther then forces Kate to marry his nephew. Trapped with a husband she does not love Kate desperately tries to regain the lost love of her adored Mansel.

This review is from: Bad to the Bone (Paperback) Gwen Madoc has turned out yet another page-turning book. This is the third book I have read from Madoc, and I think this one is the best so far. The plot is meaty with plenty of twists and turns, and the characters are unforgetable. Everything builds up to a highly dramatic ending which I found very exciting and hugely satisfying. I am looking forward with eager anticipation to Madoc's next book.
