A Shepherd, as a boy, is asleep on the job in the fields of Bethlehem and misses an event of a lifetime. Angels. Angels announcing the birth of the Messiah.
A shepherd boy awakes, but missed it. Angels! Angels proclaiming “The Messiah is born in Bethlehem.” His brothers and father head for Bethlehem. But Bozra hopes to prove he can be trusted with the flock.
Nobles come in search of the boy Messiah, Bozra gapes at the caravan and wonders at this beast he calls a walking mountain. Bozra wants to go with them but Father says no.
A brother returns from Bethlehem. He’d just witnessed a horrendous slaughter. The details are graphic and the threat is real. Bozra prays please protect Yeshua, but will wonder for 30 years.
An itinerant priest comes with tales of a rabble-rouser in Jerusalem. Bozra goes—but Yeshua is gone.
A cousin tells of a miracle worker who raises Lazarus from the dead.
Finally off to the Holy City for Passover Bozra and family overnight in Bethany. The talk is about crowds shouting Hosannas. Bozra is captivated with all he hears and dismayed he has missed everything. Tomorrow he may get a chance to tell Yeshua that he prayed for Him and God answered his prayer. The morning turns to horror. The family is squeezed out of the city by soldiers terrorizing thieves in route to a crucifixion. Bozra is frightened for his family and hurries them away. Against his wife’s pleading, Bozra returns. He asks for directions and proceeds to Golgatha. He arrives to see the crosses. The bodies have been removed, but the horror remains. Streams of blood stain them, torn flesh hangs from them, the smell of death surrounds them. What Bozra sees and hears brings him to his knees—the end of his quest—but just the beginning of his journey.
Excerpt
I ask your additional indulgence before you embark on this modest volume I have had the occasion to journal over my long but simple journey.
Simple. Yes.
And yet, in no small way touched by unique occurrences that should cause some astonishment even in the two thousand years hence.
Shepherds are a bit of an outcast. Their company fits best, and is mostly, with other shepherds. This only heightens what I am about to tell you.
I lived at a time unlike but a few. A time prophets dreamed of. A time immersed in danger and intrigue. A time of change. A time that changed me.
And now it is time for you. Would that I could reach out of these pages and touch you myself to whisper a blessing on each syllable you read. It will have to suffice I have, to the best I know how. Believing we are connected across these times by the words—and hidden treasures—you now hold.
Bozra, son of Abraham.

This is the continuous story of Bozra's life, the events that happened during his life time and of the times that changed all of the world forever.

Mac,
Bravo! Bravo! My hat is off to you. My heart took to flight upon finding and reading your writings here. And what God has recently put on my heart has now been confirmed. I must do it. I have been doing it. For the last couple of days I have been working feverishly to write a story from the Bible which has been close to my heart for some time. I also asked God to send me the one who will be instrumental in helping me get it published. I also have plans for an immediate three more. But they do not have to be out before the election. I am so excited.
Time is of the essence. It must be published before the presidential election for it's impact to be meaningful. Maybe I'd be wise to pray for another three or so month delay in declaring a winner. And from what I hear about the new voting process here in Florida, it just might happen again. Not the hanging chads this time but various other
mishaps.
In any case I love what I read about you and your work.
Carry on Mac, and blessing to you.
Peace,
Razz |

A slam dunk. Bozra misses the coming of the Messiah while tending sheep on the 5th watch. Mac, your writing is crisp and clear running parallel to many lives even two thousand years later. The ending says it all.
