His long, spiked tail swished violently while Draknah lay by the crystal clear lake. He kept watch on the young woman pictured on its surface. If only he didn't have to deal with a human;they were such ugly creatures. His own mate was much handsomer than the puny woman with
her brown hair and green eyes.
With waning dragon magic, he watched her caress the scaly hide of her pet lizard. He couldalmost feel her fingers on his own body. He shuddered. The thought of a human touching him made his skin crawl. Still, he had watched her grow from a young hatchling who preferred
lizards to puppies and kittens. Now her work caring for the caged lizards of her world, proved her love for scaled creatures.
With one clawed hand, Draknah stirred the waters of the lake, and the woman's face disappeared. She will sleep in her own world one more night, Draknah thought, then stretched
and yawned. The bright orange sun of Tresis set in the East while the five silver moons rose slowly in the West. Draknah curled around himself like an over-sized dog. His spiked tail lay
over his eyes, blocking the moonlight streaming through the mouth of his cave. Several miles away, he heard the elves preparing for their nocturnal raids. He tuned out all but the chosen one, Blayde, determined even in his sleep to guard him.
