What the Bible didn't tell you...
The Earth's most carefully guarded secret...
What if the Bible were not complete? What if something existed, so beneficial to mankind that it had been intentionally omitted in order to protect its existence through complete secrecy? What if there were a place named Father Mountain, and within it, Ahveen? What if there were Guardians?
Jim Preston and Red Porter, twenty-year-old workers at Miller Foundry in Rockaway, Illinois, are about to find out the answers to all these questions—high on a mountain in a remote region of northwestern Colorado. But by the time they reach twenty for the second time, it will be no more than a faint and hazy dream to them, knowing no more than what they have been permitted to learn by the Guardians of Father Mountain and their "former" selves.
Inside The Cats' Lair resides the hope of the world...Outside—Jim and Red are threatening that hope...Born into two lives, their second lives would not reveal to them what their first presence had discovered about The Cats' Lair.
What then led to their discoveries in their first lives? Curiosity...and an old map.
What stopped them in their second lives? The answer to that resides within The Cats' Lair...

The troop of three marched on, up and up, cresting the rise and gaping at the view before them. It wasn't new to Laura, but it was still breathtakingly beautiful, and a refreshingly relaxing sight, even for her.
The boys, on the other hand, were speechless! The dense green valley below them was indescribable. Oval in shape, it was nestled into the mountain with a precision only God could have dreamed up. From their approach, the floor of the valley sloped down away from them, growing ever deeper, until it reached the back of the valley. There, falling gracefully down the back wall, centered precisely, was a two hundred-foot waterfall. Perhaps only ten feet wide, the falling water had a wispy look to it as updrafts blew water here and there in its attempt to reach the small lake below. The lake had no apparent outlet, but seemed to exist only through a balance of water falling into it and that which could run out through the ground beneath it or evaporate away.
Staring at the sight before him, Jim could not help but wonder why this spot had not yet been spoiled by the tourist trade. If people got wind of this place, it would be gone in a matter of days, he thought. At least as we're seeing it now.
"What I can't understand, Laura-is why this place isn't swarming with tourists and hikers and campers," Jim pointed out to her. "How did Clermont manage to keep this a secret?"
"Two reasons, Jim," Laura answered. "First, we are a bit off the beaten path when it comes to tourists. Most of them are down in Aspen, Vail, or Estes Park. The second reason is that this is private land, not public. The whole of Father Mountain is owned by a local rancher."
"Lucky guy," Red interjected.
"Yeah, but he made his luck. He came out here from Illinois years ago and scratched out a ranch in the next valley over. He worked it hard and eventually became very wealthy and purchased Father Mountain. Everybody thought he was pretty much crazy, buying a whole mountain and all, but they figured he was probably planning a ski resort or something, or so they speculated. Turns out they were wrong. He never did a thing with it."
"You said he came from Illinois?" Jim asked.
"Yes, Illinois."
"What's his name?"
"Carter Elliott."
Jim's jaw dropped to his chest.
"Red. Did you hear that? Carter Elliott!" Jim exclaimed.
"You don't know the name do you?" Laura asked, rather confused at the surprise in Jim's voice.
"Yes, that's the name of the guy who last owned the farm in Illinois where I found the map to the Cats' Lair! That's too amazing. I find a map, hidden–buried in the ground, and it turns out that the guy who owns the destination marked on the map has the same name as the guy who owned the farm where I found it. Coincidence? - I don't think so. Come on, let's get down there and start searching for the Lair!"
